One of the new features in the first beta of iOS 27.3 is the arrival of Selfie Sing, a feature with which we can record ourselves while singing our favorite songs in the Music app. An interesting evolution of karaoke that adds a social component to performing our favorite songs.
How to record our own karaoke video on your iPhone
Selfie Sing is really simple to use. In the future, it should be available for any song, but for now it’s best to start with one from the Selfie Sing playlist. Then, we simply tap the camera icon. Once we’re ready to start, we press the red button and sing while following the lyrics as they scroll in sync on screen and the camera records us.
When the performance is over, we can adjust the volume of our voice and add certain effects like Megaphone, Echo, Concert Hall, or Studio. The resulting video is saved in the Photos app, where we can send it or export it to any other app.
A playlist of great classics to get started
While Discovery Station helps us discover music, the new Selfie Sing playlist brings together the best-known songs that already work with this feature.
In this first beta there may only be a few, but Respect, by Aretha Franklin, Wonderwall, by Oasis, or Like a Virgin, by Madonna, stand out. A selection that’s sure to get us in the mood to sing as soon as we try this feature.
The playlist already appears in iOS 27.2, although recording with the camera is only available in the iOS 27.3 beta and for certain songs. While we practice our scales, it’s expected that this feature will officially launch with iOS 27.3 in just a few weeks.
