We have been warning for several months that, right at the beginning of this 2024, the one that was expected to become the best serialized fiction of the year was already premiered. We are talking about Shogun, a Disney Plus series that adapts the classic novel by James Clavell. Now, the Emmy Awards have confirmed what we suspected. And that is that the series has achieved nothing more and nothing less than 25 nominations.
Launched on September 19th at the Microsoft Theater in Los Angeles, the Emmys are the most important television awards worldwide, and every year they showcase the best series of the year. This time, there have been notable absences like House of the Dragon, but others have once again stood out, such as The Bear or True Detective: Night Country.

A list full of surprises
The series and shows with the most nominations for the 2024 Emmy Awards are as follows:
- Shogun – 25
- The Bear – 23
- Solo Murders in the Building – 21
- True Detective: Night Country – 19
- The Crown – 18
- Saturday Night Live – 17
- The Morning Show – 16
- Mr & Mrs Smith – 16
- Hacks – 16
- Fallout – 16
Although it is clear that depending on the category, series have more or less chances of standing out in the nominations, it is noteworthy the entry of other great fictions like My Plush Reindeer, which has achieved 3 nominations in the miniseries categories.

Hiroyuki Sanada, the lead actor of the series, has reacted to the nominations as follows: “To our entire cast and crew, a special thank you for bringing this story and vision to life. It was a great opportunity to share our culture with the world. I hope this will be a stepping stone for the next generation.”
