Silent Hill 2 Remake has been a critical success, but hatred on the Internet caused Wikipedia to close its page

Regarding Silent Hill 2 Remake, we were rather cautious. Bloober Team’s track record called for caution, with some great games under their belt, but also huge disasters that required approaching the project prudently. However, while some saw this as a reason for caution, others used it as a reason to dismiss and attack any new news about the project from the start. This has led to what we are experiencing now: a negative reception not to the game itself, but to the fact that it is not being poorly received. We were rather cautious in regard to Silent Hill 2 Remake. Bloober Team’s track record demanded caution. They have some great games under their belt, but also huge disasters that required prudence. While some were skeptical, many others outwardly scorned and attacked news about the project from the start. What we are now experiencing is not a negative response to the game, but to the fact that it is not being poorly received.

The embargo on Silent Hill 2 Remake has ended, and its reviews are tremendously positive. Accumulating an 87 on Metacritic with 58 different reviews, 88% of which are positive, it is a much more positive reception than we expected. This is much in line other recent remakes, such as Dead Space, with an 89 on Metacritic, and unanimously acclaimed by players.

Good reviews have been very poorly received among a certain group of players, convinced that this is not possible. They have decided that the game is bad, it must be bad. This has led them to vandalize the Wikipedia page, lying about its reception, and going so far as to say “it has received the worst imaginable reviews.”

The fake reviews are a coordinated move to attack the game for being considered a “woke” remake that attacks the essence of the original, making women less attractive and men less strong. This has led to Wikipedia intervening on the page and placing it in a semi-protected state where it can only be edited by a select group of editors.

This has caught the attention of people both on the Silent Hill Reddit and on social media, causing the alarm that led Wikipedia to lock the page. Their decision was prudent, as the function of the encyclopedia remains informative. Allowing constant vandalism by a group of people unable to accept that the world does not revolve around their ideas is not positive for anyone. And even if they don’t like it, Silent Hill 2 Remake, which releases on Tuesday, October 8 for PlayStation 5 and PC, seems well worth it.
