Shift Up, the developers of the popular and controversial Stellar Blade, have confirmed that they will continue working on the game, teasing some surprises ahead.
Stellar Blade has performed very well on PlayStation 5. Although it is not one of the best-selling or critically acclaimed games of the year, it has achieved exceptional results for its studio, Shift Up. That’s why it shouldn’t surprise us that they are already working on future games. And that they are even considering things that were not on the table until now.
According to a statement in the Korea Composite Stock Price Index, Shift Up is already working on a new IP. With a planned release starting in 2027, the game, named Project Witches, would seek a global release on both PC and consoles. It would be a game heavily inspired by global phenomena such as Genshin Impact, Honkai: Star Rail, and Fate/Grand Order. This suggests that it would have some kind of associated gacha mechanic.
In addition, in the near future, they have said that they are considering continuing the success of Stellar Blade. In addition to considering making a sequel to the game, they have confirmed that the game will be expanded with DLC and with new collaborations with other intellectual properties. Something they have not provided further details about.
The most interesting thing about all this is that, in addition, they have confirmed that they are considering the possibility of launching the game on PC as well. A move that, given its success, and the controversy behind it, would be well received by many players. And it would serve them to continue exploiting the game while they continue working on their new projects.
