Well, Universal Pictures has confirmed this week that Super Mario Bros.: The Movie will be exclusively available on the Peacock platform starting this August 3rd.
That being said, while this is good (great) news in principle, for those of us living in Spain, it raises some questions. Peacock is not available as a standalone platform in Spain, although its content can be accessed through the SkyShowtime platform, which recently launched in our country. However, it’s important to note that the release of the film on SkyShowtime is not guaranteed, as licensing and distribution agreements can vary.
The terms of the contract between Universal and Peacock are completely unknown, so it’s unclear if the film is 100% exclusive to this platform. Additionally, it’s important to remember that licensing agreements for TV shows and movies can vary by country, so it’s possible that viewers in Spain may not get access to the Super Mario Bros. movie for some time. We’ll have to keep our fingers crossed and hope for the best.
