In a remarkable achievement within the world of video games, the Chinese player known as SonixLegend has surpassed the mark of 40,029 video games on his Steam account, becoming the first and only user to obtain the coveted Game Collector badge on September 23, 2025. This milestone, which has required approximately 15 years of dedication, includes more than seven years of uninterrupted gameplay to test each title in his vast collection.
Full pockets and plenty of time to play
The magnitude of their library is astonishing, not only because of the quantity but also due to its estimated value. According to data from SteamDB, the total value of their games reaches approximately $644,904, although the actual calculation is closer to $250,000, taking into account discounts and external purchases that have facilitated the expansion of their collection. However, it is important to highlight that more than half of these titles are shovelware, meaning low-quality games that do not significantly contribute to the prestige of their library.
Despite its impressive number of games, SonixLegend is not a passive collector. His favorite title is Alien Swarm, in which he has invested over 550 hours and has managed to complete all the achievements. So far, he has fully completed at least 34 games from his library, although a large part of his titles remains untouched, reflecting more his goal of accumulation than the desire to enjoy each one of them.
Among the most expensive games in their collection are 3DF Zephyr Lite Steam Edition, valued at $249.99, as well as Hexaluga and Mine Royale, each priced at $199.99, despite their poor reviews. SonixLegend seems to be guided by an approach that prioritizes the expansion of its library regardless of the quality of the titles, opening a debate about the true essence of collecting in the world of video games.
