Game of Thrones was one of the biggest successes in recent television history. Although House of the Dragon is not generating the same buzz, the hype is very real. Especially after The Knight of the Seven Kingdoms has been a resounding success that has captivated even the most disenchanted fans of the franchise. And now the showrunner of the series has promised that we can expect something that even Game of Thrones has not achieved so far.
A battle like no other
In an interview with Entertainment Weekly, the co-creator and showrunner of the series, Ryan Condal, stated that the series will surprise fans of Game of Thrones. The reason? The first episode will be the Battle of the Gorge, and he described it as “possibly the craziest television episode ever made.”
The bar is set very high for obvious reasons. Game of Thrones has had spectacular battles that are still etched in the minds of fans. But Conrad himself doesn’t seem to be afraid of any of this. “Trying to tell this story without the throat would be like trying to film ‘The Lord of the Rings’ without doing the Battle of Helm’s Deep. If we’re going to do it, we have to do it right. And that means dragons, ships, and many places of conflict.”
Although expectations are high, and probably even higher after learning how the season will start and how its creator has given everything to make this battle incredible, it seems that Game of Thrones will not disappoint. And to find out, we will have to wait less than a month, as the third season of House of the Dragon premieres on June 21. When we will finally know if the Battle of the Gorge is as spectacular as we have been promised.
