Game of Thrones was one of the biggest successes in recent television history. Although House of the Dragon is not generating the same buzz, the hype is very real.
Especially after The Knight of the Seven Kingdoms has been a resounding success that has captivated even the most disenchanted fans of the franchise. And now the showrunner of the series has promised that we can expect something that even Game of Thrones has not achieved so far.
The bar is set very high for obvious reasons. Game of Thrones has had spectacular battles that are still etched in the minds of fans. But Conrad himself doesn’t seem to be afraid of any of this. “Trying to tell this story without the throat would be like trying to film ‘The Lord of the Rings’ without doing the Battle of Helm’s Deep. If we’re going to do it, we have to do it right. And that means dragons, ships, and many places of conflict.”
Although expectations are high, and probably even higher after learning how the season will start and how its creator has given everything to make this battle incredible, it seems that Game of Thrones will not disappoint. And to find out, we will have to wait less than a month, as the third season of House of the Dragon premieres on June 21. When we will finally know if the Battle of the Gorge is as spectacular as we have been promised.
On social media, a group of fans is furious because they believe that the fifth season of The Boys has failed to meet their expectations. Responding that the season has lacked the development of events from past seasons, “nothing is happening,” they feel disappointed by how the series has evolved as it approaches its conclusion. This is something that the show’s runner, Eric Kripke, has strong statements about. Tired of the superficiality of certain fans, he said, “What are you expecting? A fight scene every episode? First, I can’t afford that. And second, it could be so empty and hollow, and that could just be […]

Responding that the season has lacked the development of events from past seasons, “nothing is happening,” they feel disappointed by how the series has evolved as it approaches its conclusion. This is something that the show’s creator, Eric Kripke, has strong statements about.
Tired of the superficiality of certain fans
“What are you waiting for? A fight scene every episode? First, I can’t afford that. And second, it could be so empty and hollow, and that could just be shapes moving without any relevance,” Kripke stated. But he wanted to emphasize that it’s not just that they don’t have the means to do a fight per episode, but also that they don’t want to. “We think we have all these important character details. We have about 14 characters, maybe 15. And we owe it to all of them (…) I owe it to all of them to develop and humanize them in the story.”
Declaring himself furious that people reduce the narrative to moments of violence and do not understand the subtlety of character development, Kripke has ended up stating that if you think that if no one is shooting, nothing is happening “you are watching the wrong series”. Thus making it clear what he believes is the strength of his series: its characters and themes, not its violence and the impact of its twists.

The series Vikings: Valhalla, successor to the popular Vikings, was canceled in its third season by Netflix due to an audience below expectations, leaving fans without a satisfactory conclusion. The showrunner Jeb Stuart had ambitious plans to expand the narrative for up to six seasons, thus allowing for a deeper development of characters and plots that, unfortunately, did not come to fruition.
In the streaming era, it is very difficult to tell long stories
Despite the fact that the series closed some arcs —particularly that of Harald, who becomes king of Norway—, many stories remained open. Characters like Leif and Freydís, who embark on an adventure to Vinland, saw their stories simplified compared to the complexity of historical accounts. Leif’s journey, for example, was much less heroic than what the series presents, being part of a saga marked by contradictions and a lack of interaction with the native populations he encountered.
The figure of Harald, who had a tragic royal trajectory, was filled with ambitions of conquest that were thwarted, culminating in his death in battle. This historical aspect, which could have been an interesting narrative focus for future seasons, was rendered ignorable after the premature conclusion of the series. The death of King Canute, another significant event, left England in a state of great political instability, a theme that could have served as a backdrop for new conflicts and characters, such as Emma of Normandy, who became fundamental in the narrative of the time.
In the streaming era, it is increasingly difficult for series to conclude with an appropriate ending, as happened with Vikings, which managed to finish its planned story. Vikings: Valhalla is another example of how the audience and the content strategy of streaming platforms can affect the continuity of narratives that deserved to be explored further.

The second season of the Fallout series is set 15 years after the events of Fallout: New Vegas. Geneva Robertson-Dworet, co-showrunner of the series, stated in a recent interview that the intention is to avoid having a specific ending be considered the correct one, allowing players’ experiences and choices to influence the narrative of the show.
Everything can be canon
The creators, including Todd Howard and Jonathan Nolan, emphasized that what happens in the series is considered canon within the Fallout universe. Howard mentioned that “it’s great when someone else looks at your work and translates it in some way,” making it clear that the series is set in a context similar to that of the video games. This season will seek to establish connections between the series and the experiences of the players, although Robertson-Dworet admits that “there may be moments that contradict that.”
As the years go by, the New Vegas landscape has evolved, with new conflicts and factions facing off, adding new dynamics to the plot. Fans may remember factions like the New California Republic and Caesar’s Legion, which fight for control of the territory, while other endings, like that of Yes Man, present an independent New Vegas. This temporal shift will allow the series to explore how the passage of time has affected this post-apocalyptic world.
The second season of Fallout premieres on Prime Video on December 17. With its focus on the events following Fallout: New Vegas, fans are eager to find out how player choices may have impacted the series’ story and the fate of this iconic universe.
For many years it seemed that the western was the genre of our parents, if not our grandparents. A genre that was an American thing, that our elders liked out of pure nostalgia, and that didn’t have much to contribute to the present. Of course, we were wrong. There are excellent westerns out there and in fact, it is still possible to make good westerns. There is nothing in the setting that is unrepeatable today and, due to its characteristics, it fits perfectly with our chaotic present of wild capitalism. For many years it seemed that the western was the genre of our parents, if not our grandparents. A genre that was an American thing, liked by our elders out of pure nostalgia, and that didn’t have much to contribute to the present. Of course, we were wrong. There are excellent westerns out there and in fact, it is still possible to make good westerns. There is nothing in the setting that is irreproducible today and, due to its characteristics, it fits perfectly with our chaotic present of wild capitalism.
Kurt Sutter, creator of Sons of Anarchy, knows this well, who, with his new series, The Abandoned, wants to show us that the western can be used to tell stories that resonate with today’s audience. And, moreover, to do it on the favorite platform of many: Netflix.
A western driven by two exceptional actresses
The Abandoned is set in 1850 in Oregon. There, a group of people live peacefully without any kind of conflict. But that doesn’t make for any kind of story, and that’s why something happens: a corporation arrives seeking to take over their lands. This causes the locals to organize under the auspices of two families dominated by two powerful matriarchs who will define the events from then on for the control of their town. By fair means or foul.
Closely following the structure and tone of Sons of Anarchy, Sutter’s intention is to create a western that exploits all the clichés of its stories. The violence, family ties, individuals and their infrafamilial groups against society, and the clash between capitalism and community. In this case, it is led by two well-known actresses: Gillian Anderson and Lena Headey.
In fact, all the critics who have been able to see the series already highlight that they are the true driving force of the series. These two actresses with more than accomplished careers prove to be the true heart and soul of The Abandoned, carrying the narrative of the series on their shoulders in a way that only two absolutely exceptional actresses like them could do. Making the series an absolute must-watch for any fan of these two actresses, that is, anyone who knows them.
It is no less true that the general opinion among critics is that the series is, at the very least, uneven. Even if the lead actresses are absolutely superb and the narrative works, its violence and schematic nature ultimately take a toll. Resulting too artificial for some critics.
One of the reasons cited that may have caused this is that its creator, Stutter, left the series before the completion of its first season. Although his reasons have not been clarified, whether it was due to creative differences with Netflix or because he wants to focus on his directorial debut in film with This Beast, still without a release date, everyone acknowledges that what is clearly missing here is what is very evident in his great works, such as Sons of Anarchy or The Shield: a certain moral ambiguity in his characters and greater depth in the events of the plot.
Does that mean that Los abandonados isn’t worth it? Not at all. As we have pointed out, its leading actresses make any series they appear in essential, and even if it’s just an echo, Stutter is always a mark of quality. It may have been able to be more, but it is also true that many critics believe it is a good series despite everything. Even if not at the level of what they expect from the creator of Sons of Anarchy.
If you’re curious to see the series, it’s already available on Netflix. There are ten episodes, a second season has not been confirmed, and without its showrunner, it seems doubtful that there will be one. So it seems like a perfect plan to enjoy a series that, even if it’s not the best that its creator has offered us, is a more than worthy curiosity in the current streaming catalog.

The Amazon television series God of War has entered pre-production more than three years after its initial announcement. This progress comes at a time when auditions are being held for the lead roles of Kratos and Atreus. According to reports, the direction of the first two episodes will be handled by Frederick E.O. Toye, a director with a solid track record in acclaimed series such as Westworld, The Boys, and Watchmen, suggesting a creative approach that could capture the attention of franchise fans.
A series with a luxury director
The series, which was first announced in 2022, had faced some delays in its development, but in 2024 a creative reboot was scheduled with Ronald D. Moore, known for his work on For All Mankind, as showrunner. This has allowed Amazon to feel so confident in the new direction of the project that it has already ordered two seasons in advance, a move that reflects the intention to replicate the success of other video game adaptations, such as the Fallout series.
Despite the anticipation, there were rumors about the participation of Christopher Judge, who currently voices Kratos in the video games, in the series. However, Judge has denied these rumors, which adds an air of mystery to the casting of the main characters. All these elements suggest that Amazon is invested in creating an adaptation that not only honors the original material but also gives it a modern twist, in line with the standards of current productions.
With the growing popularity of video game adaptations, the God of War series promises to be a standout event in Amazon’s programming, giving fans the chance to see their favorite characters come to life in a new format. Time will tell if they can achieve the same level of success as other recent titles.

A former showrunner of one of AMC’s most iconic zombie apocalypse shows has made serious allegations against the network, claiming they have potentially stolen millions of dollars in profits. This situation highlights a troubling pattern in the television industry, where disputes over copyright and financial compensation are becoming increasingly common and often controversial.
Other showrunners have done similar things in the past
The accusations arise in a context where other showrunners, such as Frank Darabont and Glenn Mazzara, have made similar claims in the past. Although this time the criticisms do not come from the more well-known names, such as the creator of the original series Robert Kirkman, the new protagonist of this dispute underscores the complicated relationship between creatives and television networks. These tensions have led to an atmosphere of distrust that can harm not only those involved but also the production and future of the affected programs.
The specific details regarding the former showrunner’s claims have not been fully revealed, leading to speculation among fans and industry experts. Although an exact figure has not been provided, the reference to “millions in profits” suggests that the claims are substantial. This new accusation adds to a series of legal conflicts that have marked the development of multiple AMC series, reflecting an alarming trend in which creators often find their rights compromised.
In this scenario, many are wondering how these disputes will affect AMC’s reputation and the public perception of its programs, especially at a time when competition in the entertainment field is fiercer than ever. The situation is ongoing and rumors continue to emerge about the legal implications that could arise from this conflict.

The film industry is at a critical moment due to the rapid adoption of artificial intelligence (AI) in the filmmaking process. This phenomenon has sparked intense debate among Hollywood creatives, who are divided into factions for and against the use of this innovative technology. Filmmakers, screenwriters, directors, and producers are becoming increasingly polarized, highlighting the existing tension in a sector that has traditionally prioritized human creativity.
A discussion that will take years to settle
One of the figures that has risen to fame in this context is the AI-generated actress, Tilly Norwood, who has been designed to act in productions without the direct intervention of a human being. This technological advancement has led some to question the future of work in the film industry, raising doubts about the authenticity and creative values that have characterized cinema over the years.
In parallel, the Showrunner platform has been launched as a tool that uses AI to optimize content development, which could transform the way stories are produced and distributed in the medium. However, its implementation has sparked criticism and skepticism among those who see the use of AI as a threat to cultural narrative and the very essence of creative collaboration.
Vince Gilligan, the acclaimed creator of series like Breaking Bad, is at the center of this debate with his new project for Apple TV, titled Pluribus. Although he is known for his human narrative approach, his connection with new technologies raises questions about how traditional creators are adapting to the digital age. In this context, there are rumors that the use of AI in future productions could become more of a norm than an exception.

Tonight, HBO presents the premiere of IT: Welcome to Derry, a new series inspired by the work of Stephen King. This project has been developed by Argentine brothers Andy and Barbara Muschietti, who have a solid track record in the horror genre, especially for their successful film adaptation of It.
A novel more relevant today than at the time of its release
During the premiere event, the Muschietti siblings shared their thoughts on the relevance of the horror genre in everyday life and its connection to King’s work. According to them, horror is not just a means of entertainment, but it can also serve as a mirror of human experiences and fears, thus connecting with the audience on a deeper level.
Together with the Muschiettis, Jason Fuchs has played a crucial role in the development of the series, bringing his expertise in storytelling and scriptwriting. Fuchs, known for his work on films like Wonder Woman, has joined forces with Brad Caleb Kane, who serves as the showrunner. Kane is responsible for overseeing the production and ensuring that the creative vision of the team is maintained throughout the series.
Andy Muschietti is set to direct several episodes of IT: Welcome to Derry, which promises a continuity in the visual style and atmosphere that defined the previous films. “This series will allow fans to explore unknown aspects of the Derry universe,” Andy commented, suggesting that there is much more to King’s narrative than what has already been presented on the big screen.
With a mix of eagerness and expectations, IT: Welcome to Derry promises not only to expand Stephen King’s legacy but also to offer viewers a new and terrifying look at the fears that dwell in every corner of the human being.
