The Nintendo Switch 2 has had a stunning start in the market, selling over 3.5 million units in its first four days since launch, making it Nintendo’s best-selling console in this period. This impressive performance surpasses the 2.4 million units that the original Switch reached during its first month and shows a clear sign that the demand for the new hardware is exceptionally high.
An absolutely massive reception
Doug Bowser, president of Nintendo of America, expressed his gratitude for the positive response from the public, emphasizing that “fans around the world are showing their enthusiasm for Nintendo Switch 2.” This console was launched with standout titles like Mario Kart: World, and significant improvements are presented in popular games like Zelda: Breath of the Wild, which has undoubtedly contributed to its success.
To date, the Switch 2 has reached sales records in several markets. In the United Kingdom, it has become the fastest-selling console in Nintendo’s history; while in France, sales reached 207,000 units, surpassing the previous PS5 record. In Spain, the figures are also impressive, with over 108,000 units sold, doubling the previous record in this country.
Nintendo had projected sales of 15 million units for the fiscal year ending in March, and with such a strong start in sales, it seems likely to surpass that figure. Comparing this launch with that of other consoles, PS5 distributed 3.4 million units in its first month, a figure that the Switch 2 has already surpassed in its first days. The expectations surrounding this new console are high, and the consulting firm Kantan Games expects it to continue breaking records in the coming weeks.
