This game promises to combine platform action with adventure, featuring innovative mechanics such as environmental destruction and the use of compatible amiibo.
A game that seeks to explain how two iconic characters met
Donkey Kong Bananza introduces a new transformation system called ‘bananzas’, which grant Donkey Kong special abilities. Together with Pauline, who will not only be a playable character but will also assist DK with her voice to activate these transformations, players will embark on an adventure to reach the center of the planet in search of complicated wishes to fulfill.
The game, which will be compatible with the GameShare feature, will allow two players to enjoy a single copy on different consoles. In addition, it will offer a local and online cooperative mode, enhancing the gaming experience. Throughout their adventure, players will encounter countless collectibles and secrets, including vinyl records and additional skills that will be progressively unlocked.
The iconic characters of the franchise, such as Diddy and Dixie Kong, also return to accompany Donkey Kong and Pauline on this journey. Along the way, they will face the Void Company, antagonists who seek to take over the protagonist’s bananas, which adds an extra level of challenge and excitement to the story.
With a playable proposal that mixes action and adventure in a three-dimensional world, Donkey Kong Bananza promises to be not only an evolution of the franchise but also one of the best reasons to acquire a Nintendo Switch 2 at its launch.
Nintendo is aware that part of the interest in Switch 2 is its greater power compared to the first console. Not only because of the games it will be able to run that it couldn’t before, but also because of the improvements it could bring to previous games on the console. Because being a backward-compatible console means we will be able to play enhanced versions of our Nintendo Switch games. Some of them without having to pay. Because although unfortunately some of these updates will be paid —those that are, because they will come with extra content— there are also free ones. Something that we have […]
Nintendo is aware that part of the interest in Switch 2 is its greater power compared to the first console. Not only for the games it will be able to run that it couldn’t before, but also for the improvements it could bring to previous games on the console. Because being a backward-compatible console means we will be able to play enhanced versions of our Nintendo Switch games. Some of them without having to pay again.
Because although unfortunately some of these updates will be paid —those that are, because they will come with extra content—, there are also free ones. Something we wanted to break down for you in a simple and detailed way before the console’s launch. Because it could very well be that this is what encourages you to get the console. Or to definitely pass on it.
Additionally, before we start, another important detail. All these updates will be available on June 5, the launch day of Nintendo Switch 2.
One of the features that has stood out the most from Nintendo is GameShare. The ability to play with friends in a cooperative manner, share your gameplay screen, and communicate with them through voice chat. Five Nintendo Switch games have confirmed that they will support GameShare and, unsurprisingly, they are five games with some form of cooperative play.
The Nintendo Switch games that will receive GameShare support on Nintendo Switch 2 are 51 Worldwide Games, Big Brain Academy: Brain Battle, Captain Toad: Treasure Tracker, Super Mario 3D World + Bowser’s Fury, and Super Mario Odyssey.
Games with visual enhancements
One thing that happens to the Nintendo Switch is that it is a console that was born with a clear lack of power. This has led to serious problems in making some of its games look good, especially on modern screens. HDR and high-resolution screens do not get along with the Switch, and that is what the patch for these games tries to solve. To make them look as good as possible on Switch 2 and on current TVs and monitors.
The Nintendo Switch games that will receive visual enhancements on Nintendo Switch 2 are ARMS, Captain Toad: Treasure Tracker, Video Game Studio, New Super Mario Bros. U Deluxe, Pokémon Scarlet and Pokémon Purple, Super Mario 3D World + Bowser’s Fury, Super Mario Odyssey, The Legend of Zelda: Echoes of Wisdom, and The Legend of Zelda: Link’s Awakening.
Games with FPS Enhancements
In the last years of the Switch’s life, some games performed much worse than we wished. Something we hope Nintendo Switch 2 will manage. Although the list of free patches addressing FPS is much less extensive than we would like and only addresses one game that really needs it, we embrace it because, let’s be honest: a certain Pokémon release really needs that boost.
The Nintendo Switch games that will receive FPS improvements on Nintendo Switch 2 are ARMS, Pokémon Scarlet and Pokémon Purple, and Super Mario 3D World + Bowser’s Fury.
Mouse mode games
Another great feature of the Nintendo Switch 2 is that the Joy-Con can function as mice. Something that, as is evident, is difficult to implement in a backward-compatible way. That doesn’t stop us from celebrating that they have at least managed to do it with one title.
The Nintendo Switch game that will receive support with the mouse mode of Nintendo Switch 2 is Video Game Studio.
The arrival of the New Nintendo Switch 2 is generating high expectations among players, thanks to its focus on backward compatibility and significant improvements for existing titles. This new device will not only allow users to enjoy games from the previous console, but it will also feature enhanced versions that will be available as Switch 2 Edition. These improvements are not free; players will have the option to upgrade them for an additional cost, although some titles will receive optimizations for free. One of the standout features of the Switch 2 is its Internet connectivity capability, which will enable the downloading of updates that can enhance overall performance and provide support for features like GameShare in certain games. However, it is important to note that performance improvements will primarily focus on areas such as loading times and overall stability, without directly impacting frame rates or graphical resolution, at least initially.
Among the games that will benefit from these free updates, an initial list is expected to cover various titles that are making their return on the new console. Meanwhile, titles like Metroid Prime 4: Beyond will receive special attention, with promised enhancements that will allow for a gaming experience at 4K/60 FPS or 1440p/120 FPS, demonstrating Nintendo’s commitment to elevating the visual and performance experience of its most anticipated games.
With the opportunity to acquire these enhanced titles, as well as new bundles through the MyNintendoStore platform, it has become clear that Nintendo aims not only to attract new players but also to provide additional value to its loyal fans of its extensive game library. However, fans are still wondering how these enhancements will specifically be implemented, leaving an air of anticipation about the future of the Nintendo Switch 2.
