Rockstar removes one of the oldest features of GTA before the release of GTA VI

The Rockstar Games Social Club, launched in 2008 in conjunction with Grand Theft Auto IV, has suddenly ceased to function, redirecting its main URL to the official Rockstar Games portal. For over 15 years, this platform became an iconic tool for players, offering advantages such as the synchronization of statistics and the acquisition of exclusive items in GTA Online for those who registered. However, recent information suggests that the platform had become outdated and vulnerable to security issues.

Says goodbye to the Social Club forever

The insider known as @videotechuk_ has pointed out that the decision to close the Social Club is due to multiple issues, including the hijacking of “crews” and the ease with which accounts were compromised. This situation raised doubts about the platform’s ability to provide a safe and satisfactory experience for its users. Therefore, the closure does not surprise many, as complaints about its outdatedness were becoming increasingly frequent among the gaming community.

In addition, an update made on November 20, 2023, had begun to remove almost all mentions of the Social Club in Rockstar titles, indicating a gradual decline in its relevance. All of this has led to speculation about whether the company might be working on a new platform that would be launched alongside the highly anticipated GTA 6. According to the insider, “it is very likely that juicy changes are coming for the sixth installment of the saga,” which has excited fans of the series.

With the closure of the Social Club, players can no longer access their profiles, photos, and videos, marking the end of an era in the history of Rockstar Games. The focus now shifts to what innovations and features they will be able to present in the future, especially with the imminent release of GTA 6.

Xbox introduces a new menu and players are not thrilled

Microsoft has begun to introduce new features in accessing information about saved games on Xbox consoles, specifically in the intermediate menu when selecting a title. This new feature, currently available only to users in the Insiders program, allows players to view achievements, screenshots, and direct links to the store, enhancing the way they interact with their games.

An interesting option, but not without problems

However, the community’s reaction has been divisive. Some users believe that this improvement is useful, facilitating access to valuable information without the need to search in the dashboard. In contrast, others criticize the need for a second click to start the game, perceiving this additional step as an obstacle that interrupts the fluidity of access to the gaming experience. The possibility of disabling this feature when it becomes available to everyone, announced by Microsoft, provides an option for those who prefer a more direct navigation.

This release comes at a time when many players are expressing concerns about Microsoft’s commitment to Xbox. Despite the innovations, there is a negative perception in the community regarding the current state of the console, especially in relation to a catalog that is considered to be in decline. Competition in the video game market is fiercer than ever, and players are paying attention to how the company’s decisions may affect their experience.

While rumors about a possible restructuring of the title catalog and exclusivity continue to circulate, what is clear is that Microsoft seeks to keep its user base engaged through small updates like this one. The future of the platform will depend not only on innovations in the interface but also on a renewed commitment to offer a variety of games that satisfy its community.

Bethesda could have the Oblivion remake in Unreal Engine 5 ready to see the light of day

It is rumored that Bethesda is about to announce a remake of its acclaimed 2006 RPG, The Elder Scrolls IV: Oblivion, with the possibility of its release occurring before June. The information comes from NateTheHate, an insider known for his track record in revealing details about unannounced games. According to him, fans can expect more information about the remake either this month or in April.

A remake whose existence we know, even if it is not announced

Despite expectations that the announcement would take place during the Xbox Developer Direct in January, Bethesda revealed nothing about it. However, interest in an Oblivion remake has been growing following the discovery of documents in the FTC case involving Microsoft and its proposal to acquire Activision Blizzard, where an Oblivion Remaster was mentioned as an unannounced game for the fiscal year 2022.

So far, there are no confirmed details about the platforms on which the remake could be released, although Bethesda has had a tendency to release its games on rival platforms. For example, this May, Doom: The Dark Ages will be released, but its most recent and anticipated title, Starfield, remains an exclusive for Xbox and PC. The original release of Oblivion was exclusive to Xbox, although it later became available on PS3 in 2007.

Among the community projects, there is a fan-made remake titled Skyblivion, which is scheduled to be released in 2025. Bethesda, for its part, is still working on The Elder Scrolls VI, although no details have been disclosed about its possible release. As events unfold, fans of the series eagerly await any official announcement related to Oblivion.
