Have David Broncano and Carlos Sobera been arrested? What is the latest big Twitter hoax about?

I Didn’t Know The Camera Was Still Recording. Could This Be The End Of His Career?

If you have been on Twitter in the last few months, you have surely seen it: an image of David Broncano, the host of ‘La resistencia’, Cristina Pedroche, from ‘Zapeando’ and Carlos Sobera, from ‘First dates’, arrested for an interview in which they said “the whole truth” and for which Spain, apparently, is in shock. I Didn’t Know The Camera Was Still Recording. Could This Be The End Of His Career?, says an image alongside tweets like “What’s next?” or “Why did he say that?”. But, what is this about? Why are there hundreds of accounts promoting this kind of thing?

Resilient Scams

Broncano, who laughed about it on his show, has not had any incidents with the police since he was stopped for going too fast on his scooter in Madrid. If you click on the promoted post, which promises to be from a media outlet like RTVE, Cadena SER or El Mundo, it actually takes you to something called Garage Drouin. When you enter the website, the headline, which imitates a real website, says “Big scandal: Movistar+ management refuses to comment on their employee David Broncano”. If the way it is written, obviously created by ChatGPT, doesn’t give you enough clues, wait until you see the rest.

In the article, supposedly, a transcript of an interview from ‘La resistencia’ between Carlos Sobera and David Broncano is transcribed, in which the latter states about the former, “a year ago you were driving an old car and living in a small apartment”. Sobera, without hesitation, invites him to try his new cryptocurrency app for only 250 euros. And in thirty minutes, Broncano had earned 47 euros! Because if there’s one thing he needs, it’s definitely more money. The website then promises you can earn 4000 euros in just one week.

And in the end, of course, a link to the miraculous application, fake Facebook comments and people talking about “activating your brain”. Anyway. The curious thing is that this also happens in other countries (for example, in Canada with Michael Cera). What would have been surprising a few years ago is that Twitter allows this kind of fraud, but lately, the only surprising thing is that it hasn’t exploded in one way or another. That’s the level.

There is only one thing more important than sex for David Broncano

The man from Orcera ended up acknowledging that sex is one of the most important things “on a passionate level, what most generates primary, visceral reactions.”

Maybe no one has ever asked him, but David Broncano unintentionally answers one of his two canonical questions on ‘La Resistencia’: Sexual relations in the last month. In an interview with influencer Paula Gonu, the Orcera native admitted that sex is one of the most important things “in terms of passion, what generates the most primal, visceral reactions.” However, there is one thing that surpasses sex: Atlético de Madrid.

David, relax, not a fight

Since 2018, when Broncano left ‘La vida moderna’ (no forgiveness, no forget) to focus on his new late-night show on Movistar+, hundreds of guests have sat on his couch and endured his interviews, answering one of the two key questions: sex in the last month and money in the bank. In the end, it’s the closest thing we’ll get to ‘The Eric Andre Show’ in Spain, and not bad at all.

It is obligatory – and from here I send a greeting to Álex Pinacho and the social media team of the show in case they are reading, motivated by the headline – to talk about the love life of the host, who, after hiding (more or less well) his different flings, has finally settled down with Silvia Alonso, who in her last appearance on ‘La Resistencia’ left a drawing of both of them symbolizing the officiality of their relationship. She also answered the canonical question: “This week was… Well, yesterday made up for it. 85 times, yeah.”

We’ve had almost 850 daily episodes of ‘La Resistencia’ and it’s always nice to see that, in addition to innovating, they are capable of scraping the bottom of the pot to bring out more about the life of a host who, despite having shared almost everything, remains strangely reserved. Except for his fanaticism for Atleti, of course. That is sacred.
