The series is produced by the renowned studio Orange, known for previous hits like Trigun Stampede and Beastars. Science Fiction in World War I

Set in 1914, Leviathan takes place during a period marked by the political tension leading up to World War I. The plot follows Aleksandar, a prince played by Ayumu Murase, who escapes his responsibilities to the Austro-Hungarian throne, and Deryn, a young woman who disguises herself as a boy to join the Royal Air Service, played by Natsumi Fujiwara. Their paths cross in a living aircraft, triggering a series of events that will change their lives forever.

What distinguishes Leviathan from other productions is that it is not based on a manga, but on a trilogy of novels by author Scott Westerfeld, who has been deeply involved in the production, ensuring that his vision is reflected at every stage of development. On the other hand, the series will be directed by Christophe Ferreira, known for his work on Fullmetal Alchemist: Brotherhood, and the original music will be composed by Joe Hisaishi, the renowned composer from Studio Ghibli.

The series will integrate military elements with fantastic instances and a steampunk aesthetic, creating a unique visual experience. In addition, Qubic Pictures, famous for works like Eden and Star Wars: Visions, is joining in the production, which generates anticipation for the quality of the final product. With its premiere scheduled for the summer of 2025, Leviathan is already generating interest among anime fans.
