Motorola has started rolling out Android 17 to its Signature series in India, picking up Google’s new OS a little over a month after its June 16, 2026 release. The update brings a big visual overhaul, along with the first concrete details on the stable rollout.
The look is changing in a bunch of visible ways. Quick Settings and the Settings app have both been redesigned, widgets can now stack, the app drawer shifts to a 3×3 layout, and folders are larger. Blur effects are stronger too. Live Updates now sit around the centered camera cutout in a Dynamic Island-style layout, which gives Motorola’s software more of that Pixel feel.
There’s a lot more here than a fresh coat of paint. Motorola’s Android 17 build adds Circle to Search, real-time translation, and the new Qira assistant. You also get message scam detection, Failed Authentication Lock, stronger PIN protection, a built-in battery health monitor, HDR brightness control, Landscape Stereo, and new three-finger gestures for screenshots and split-screen. Motorola has also improved Instant Hotspot and Quick Share support for iPhone users when AirDrop is enabled.
If you use a Motorola phone every day, this looks like an update worth installing, not only for the interface changes, but for the practical stuff you’ll actually use.
Google released Android 17, codenamed Cinnamon Bun, on June 16, 2026, after a beta period that began on February 13, 2026. Motorola still hasn’t confirmed the full list of eligible devices or a wider release timetable, so if you’re outside the Signature range, you may be waiting a while.
For now, Motorola’s flagship Signature series in India gets Android 17 first.
