In addition to these classics, subscribers will also be able to enjoy exclusive premieres on the platform, such as Lonely Castle in the Mirror and Fortune Favors Lady Nikuko. The latter adds to a growing interest in anime in the North American market, helping to attract new audiences to the platform. HBO Max’s ongoing partnership with GKIDS highlights Warner Bros. Discovery’s commitment to offering a selection of high-quality animated films.
Among the gems that will be included on the platform later are Lu Over the Wall, Liz and the Blue Bird, and the acclaimed Your Name, which are scheduled to be released on future dates, although specific details have not yet been published. Masterpieces such as Angel’s Egg by Mamoru Oshii, which has never been available for streaming, and other classic films like Mind Game, The Girl Who Leapt Through Time, and Summer Wars are also anticipated, significantly expanding the anime repertoire on HBO Max.
This move by HBO Max not only underscores the growing popularity of anime on streaming platforms, but also shows how services are diversifying their content to attract a broader audience, reaffirming their position in the competitive digital entertainment market.
