Prime Video has released the first trailer for Jack Ryan: Ghost War, the film that serves as a formal farewell to the popular series based on the character created by Tom Clancy.
This installment adds to the franchise as its sixth film, marking the return of Jack Ryan, played by John Krasinski, who will reunite with old allies and a new partner in this plot full of tension and betrayals.
A movie that concludes the series
In the trailer, we can see Jack alongside Mike November (Michael Kelly), now retired, and James Greer (Wendell Pierce), who must combine their efforts with the cunning MI6 officer, Emma Marlowe, played by Sienna Miller.
Together, they will face an unknown enemy that threatens their lives. The official synopsis mentions that the trio will have to deal with a past they thought was forgotten, bringing the narrative to a level of urgency and action.
Directed by Andrew Bernstein, who also helmed the second season of the series, and written by Aaron Rabin, who worked on the fourth season, Ghost War was conceived to provide an appropriate closure after four successful seasons that spanned from 2018 to 2023. This film follows Jack Ryan: Shadow Recruit from 2014, starring Chris Pine, and is stacked in the story of the iconic character.
Despite the uncertain future of the franchise, the success that Ghost War, scheduled to be released on May 20 on Prime Video, could harvest might reignite interest in the series. Fans are eagerly awaiting how this new installment will unfold and its potential impact on the overall narrative of the Jack Ryan universe.
