Capcom reveals the news about Monster Hunter: Wilds and its upcoming major collaboration

On the occasion of the Tokyo Game Show 2025, Capcom has launched a broadcast full of news about its games, focusing on updates for already established titles and the most anticipated ones in its catalog. One of the main protagonists is Monster Hunter: Wilds, which has been dealing with technical issues since its release, generating distrust among players.

Whatever it takes to regain trust

During the presentation, Ryozo Tsujimoto, producer of the series, announced the arrival of Gogmazios, a gigantic elder dragon that will make its debut in Monster Hunter: Wilds. This feared monster was first seen in Monster Hunter 4 Ultimate. However, players will have to wait until December to face it, as it will be part of the fourth major content update, which will also include a Christmas event, several improvements, and expanded endgame content. Although not many details were provided about these improvements, players are keeping an eye on updates through the official Monster Hunter portal.

For now, fans can look forward to the arrival of the update 3, scheduled for September 29, which will introduce a Halloween autumn event and a collaboration with Final Fantasy XIV. This collaboration will allow players to hunt Omega Planetes, a new monster that has been an integral part of the Square Enix franchise for many years.

Despite Capcom’s attempts to regain the trust of its player base, data and comments on Steam indicate that there is still a tense situation regarding Monster Hunter: Wilds. Some sources suggest that the difficulties in the game may be deeper than what the developer has publicly admitted.

This week, the universe of Monster Hunter: Wilds celebrates a significant milestone, having reached the impressive figure of 10 million copies sold worldwide. And of course, Camcon is thrilled. So much so that the game director, Yuya Tokuda, expressed his gratitude to the player community for their unwavering support and offered them a glimpse into the future of the action RPG.

It is said quickly, but…10 million!

We are very happy that so many people around the world are playing, Tokuda commented. To commemorate this achievement, a free item pack is planned to be released. This special lot, typical in the saga, will include consumable items such as potions, steaks, and armor spheres, elements highly valued by the community in their adventures.

The director also took the opportunity to thank for the valuable comments and suggestions received since the game’s launch. According to Tokuda, the development team has been reading your ideas and we are excited about them, indicating that this feedback will be essential in planning future updates.

In the statement, the immediate plans for Monster Hunter: Wilds are outlined. The first major content update, known as TU1, is expected to be released at the end of this week, followed by an intermediate patch scheduled for the end of May, and a second update (TU2) that will arrive sometime in the summer, although the specific date has not yet been announced.

With these initiatives, Capcom aims not only to retain its current player base but also to attract new adventurers to its world full of challenges and creativity. Meanwhile, rumors suggest that there may be more surprises on the way to further enrich the gaming experience.

The PC version of Monster Hunter Wilds has been received with enthusiasm, but not without significant performance issues that have disappointed many players. Since its launch, the game has experienced FPS drops, graphical glitches, and stuttering in its overall performance, leading to a wave of criticism on Steam, where players have expressed their frustration. Despite these inconveniences, the title has managed to attract over a million concurrent players in its first days, surpassing the record set by Monster Hunter Worlds and competitors like Elden Ring.

Can a spelling mistake ruin a game’s FPS? It seems so

While Capcom works to address these optimization concerns, the gaming community has begun to explore makeshift solutions. An intriguing finding relates to a typo in the game’s configuration files. According to a Steam user identified as BeepBoop, correcting a misspelled “Resoltuion” to “Resolution” in the texture streaming files has reportedly resulted in a significant performance boost. This user indicated that this simple fix led to an improvement in their frame rate, experiencing a jump from three digits to 110 FPS, which has piqued the interest of other players.

However, while some have reported significant improvements in their FPS, others point out that the solution had no effect on their gaming experience, suggesting it could be a placebo effect. This type of finding demonstrates the proactivity of the gaming community in seeking solutions, although it also reflects the general frustration with the game’s performance issues. The situation has resulted in a moment of unity among monster hunters, who hope that Capcom will address the technical problems in the near future.

The popular monster-hunting game, Dauntless, will close its doors on May 29, 2025, according to a recent announcement from its developer, Phoenix Labs. The company has confirmed that the title will not receive any more updates or new content, leaving players with little time to enjoy what remains of the game.

A game that has always wanted to be Monster Hunter instead of Monster Hunter

Since its launch five years ago, Dauntless was presented as “the Monster Hunter game we were all waiting for,” although this only lasted for about six months. The release of Monster Hunter: World by Capcom changed the landscape, as the latter was received as a superior experience in comparison, quickly overshadowing Dauntless.

Last year, the situation at Phoenix Labs deteriorated drastically. In May 2024, the developer announced massive layoffs and the cancellation of several projects in development as a last-ditch effort to survive. This process culminated in December with the launch of Dauntless on Steam, which was a disaster. Players experienced progress resets and a new monetization model that was widely criticized, resulting in overwhelming negative reviews.

Additionally, some critics suggest that the acquisition of Phoenix Labs by the cryptocurrency company Forte in 2023 may have negatively affected the game. Although the consequences of this purchase are not completely clear, it is evident that the competition from Monster Hunter has been a decisive factor in the decline of Dauntless.

With the imminent arrival of Monster Hunter: Wilds, which promises to be even more appealing, the future of Dauntless seems bleak. The player community is reflecting on this chapter that is coming to an end, and many are questioning what the future holds for other projects from Phoenix Labs, such as Fae Farm.
