Netflix continues its commitment to anime in 2025, with the announcement of the premiere of the new science fiction series titled Moonrise, scheduled for April 10, 2025. Initially, this production was set to be released in 2024, but the platform has decided to delay its debut to optimize its arrival to the audience.
Revenge on the lunar criminals
Moonrise takes place in a future where the inhabitants of Earth are immersed in a conflict with evolved beings fighting for control of lunar territory. This intriguing premise promises a deep exploration of themes such as survival and territoriality, elements that resonate strongly in the science fiction genre.
The concept of the characters is the work of Hiromu Arakawa, globally known for her work on Fullmetal Alchemist, which creates high expectations regarding their depth and complexity. The direction will be in charge of Masashi Koizuka, who played key roles in the acclaimed seasons 2 and 3 of Shingeki no Kyojin, suggesting that Moonrise could follow a similar narrative style, full of action and unexpected twists.
The sound design of the series will be handled by Ryo Kawasaki, known for his work on Yu-Gi-Oh! Sevens. Additionally, the voice cast will include Chiaki Kobayashi, famous for her role in Blue Box, and Yuto Uemura, known for his participation in My Hero Academia, which ensures a high level of performance.
Moonrise is produced by WIT Studio, a name that is already synonymous with quality in the world of anime, known for its work on titles like Attack on Titan and Spy x Family. The combination of these talents promises a highly anticipated product that will undoubtedly raise audience expectations for anime in 2025; a year in which there is a lot of anime to watch just on this platform.
