Blizzard Entertainment has announced that Prey, a new open-world system, will be released as part of the World of Warcraft: Midnight expansion on March 2. This innovative system is primarily aimed at mid-level players who want to face challenges in open-world content and solo dungeon-style encounters.
An expansion that promises to revolutionize the game
During an interview with Blizzard game designer Noah Smith, it was revealed that Prey features different difficulty levels, ensuring that even players equipped with the best gear, known as mythic-geared raiders, will face significant challenges, especially in the high difficulty mode known as Nightmare. Players will select their difficulty level, zone, and target from a group of 30 bosses through an NPC in the city of Silvermoon.
One of the most exciting features of Prey is its storm system, which increases the difficulty in the chosen area. Additionally, the targets within the system will attack players unexpectedly, increasing tension and excitement during battles. This approach transforms the game’s dynamics, where hunters can become the prey at any moment.
As players face these bosses, they will also be progressing through a series of quests and open-world activities. The rewards obtained through participation in Prey will count towards the weekly vault of random rewards, providing players with an additional motivation to explore this new content without feeling obligated to fully immerse themselves in it.
The system is designed to be primarily solo content, which means that the negative effects suffered by players will only affect them, unless they choose to collaborate with friends. Smith promises that there will be significant challenges from launch, ensuring that even the most experienced players will be tested in unexpected ways.
