Mike Flanagan is completing the cast of his highly anticipated television series based on Carrie, the iconic novel by Stephen King. Among the new cast members are familiar actors who have frequently collaborated with Flanagan, including Kate Siegel, Michael Trucco, Katee Sackhoff, Rahul Kohli, Crystal Balint, and Danielle Kaludt. Siegel, in particular, has participated in almost all of the director’s projects, while Trucco stood out in Hush, Balint and Kohli were part of Midnight Mass, and Kaludt appeared in The Fall of the House of Usher.
A story very well known to the public
The story of Carrie follows Carrie White, a teenager living in an abusive religious home, who discovers her telekinetic powers and seeks revenge against her bullies. This tale, which addresses themes of bullying and abuse, has resonated over the decades since its first film adaptation in 1976, starring Sissy Spacek. Since then, there have been several sequels and remakes, including a 2013 version starring Chloe Moretz.
The series is part of Flanagan’s global deal with Prime Video, which also includes the adaptation of the famous saga The Dark Tower into multiple seasons and two standalone films. This focus of Flanagan on Stephen King’s materials is no surprise, given his previous success in the horror genre and his ability to breathe new life into classic stories.
In addition to the mentioned cast, Heather Graham, Tim Bagley, and Matthew Lillard, among others, are joining the series. Actress Summer Howell will play the titular role of Carrie White. However, so far, no release date has been announced for this new series, leaving horror fans and King’s work eagerly waiting.
