How would Red Dead Redemption 2 run on Nintendo Switch? We’re close to finding out

Red Dead Redemption 2 announces its arrival on Nintendo Switch, raising doubts about the console’s ability to be able to run the game.

Cowboy stories have the reputation of being something for older folks. The Western genre is seen as something that only appeals to an older audience, as being very masculine, and as being quite dull, but nothing could be further from the truth. The Western genre has masterpieces that can appeal to everyone and shape great video games as well. Just look at the case of the highly acclaimed Red Dead Redemption 2, which, it seems, is close to returning to our consoles.

This is because Red Dead Redemption 2 has received an age rating from the Ministry of Justice and Public Security of Brazil for Nintendo Switch. So far, it had been released on PlayStation 4 and Xbox One in September 2018 and on PC in November 2019. Among these three different versions, Take-Two has reportedly sold more than 55 million copies of the game. This would more than justify considering a version for the Nintendo hybrid, currently the best-selling console of the generation.

However, if it hasn’t happened so far, there are good reasons for it. The Nintendo console has limited hardware, making it difficult to believe it can consistently run what Red Dead Redemption 2 offers. With nowhere near the technological power of the PlayStation 4 or Xbox One, it’s most likely that Red Dead Redemption 2 will be released as a cloud game, although nothing has been confirmed about this yet.

In any case, this is not the only recent release from the franchise. A port of the original Red Dead Redemption was released last month for PlayStation 4 and Nintendo Switch, accumulating 23 million copies sold since its original release for PlayStation 3 and Xbox 360 in 2010.

Gearing Up for a Digital Heist: NetEase Challenges Take-Two with Potential GTA Anime

Project Mugen is a game that merges the best of GTA and Genshin Impact to create what could be the definitive anime aesthetic game.

“GTA is a game that has undeniably left a significant impact on the world of video games. Despite this, very few studios have dared to try to imitate it. GTA has such a distinctive identity, and its position is so dominant that very few studios dare to venture into similar territory. Aside from the Yakuza series and exceptions like the remarkable Sleeping Dogs, hardly anyone has dared to create their own version of GTA. And even fewer have succeeded. But that doesn’t stop China from diving into creating its own rendition, albeit in its own unique way.”

Project Mugen is what would happen if we blended anime aesthetics, a futuristic setting, and all the elements we love from GTA. A living city where freedom of movement is paired with combat missions reminiscent of a game like Genshin Impact is what Project Mugen promises. It’s self-described as an open-world urban RPG. From what the trailer shows, it appears to be a perfect fusion of GTA and the classic Asian mobile games that have risen in popularity, much like mushrooms after the success of Genshin Impact.

This game is being developed by Thunder Fire Studio under the umbrella of NetEase Games, one of the major giants in China alongside Tencent and HoYoverse. The game is announced for PlayStation 5 and will, in fact, be a console exclusive for Sony’s machine, in addition to being available on PC, iOS, Android, and cloud-based systems.

However, we won’t have to wait long to learn more. Project Mugen will have a streaming event on August 24th, coinciding with Gamescom, where more details about the game will be discussed. So, if you’re curious about this anime-style GTA for mobile devices, stay tuned, as next Thursday we’ll receive more information about what to expect from it.

GTA 5 had an incredible MOD but right now is no more

Take-Two continues to go after GTA 5 mod creators, this time taking down the most popular mod of recent times.

By now, it should come as no surprise that Take-Two is not a fan of mods. Anything that threatens their intellectual property is something they frown upon, and they don’t hesitate to send their lawyers in that direction. This sentiment was echoed by the community this week when a scenario of recreating GTA 5’s map in Fortnite was not publicly released, and now, it has been proven true. Creating mods for GTA 5 can now be considered a risky endeavor.

Just a week ago, a creator named Bloc released a mod called “Sentient Streets.” This mod allowed players to interact with NPCs through their microphone, as over twenty different AI entities enabled real-time responses. Each NPC had a distinct personality and responded with varying tones based on player behavior and the situation. Despite the typical limitations of such mods — where characters don’t contribute much to the narrative beyond making them feel more human — this mod had been gaining popularity over the past few days.

This prompted Take-Two to take action, sending multiple copyright claims to Bloc’s channels on both YouTube and NexusMods. As a result, the creator himself decided to remove the mod and all related content, fearing more drastic actions from Take-Two.

In an update on his YouTube channel, Bloc wrote, “YouTube removed the videos immediately without giving me a chance to explain,” and “at this time, the Nexus Mods version has been taken down due to a DMCA takedown request by Take-Two Interactive.” This led him to take similar action with the GTA5 Mods version, aiming to avoid potential legal issues. After all, the YouTube claim could result in his channel being demonetized for three months.

In response to all of this, Bloc has understandably expressed his frustration. He stated that “instead of going after small mods, they should focus on creating decent remakes with better pricing policies.” He pointed out how Rockstar Games itself stated in 2022 that “we have always believed in fans’ reasonable creativity and want creators to showcase their passion for our games.” As Bloc rightly highlights, this sentiment doesn’t seem to be reflected in their constant legal attacks against anyone who stands out even a bit in the GTA 5 modding scene.

GTA 6 Leak offers confirmation about the city we always suspect

GTA 6 is shown in a new leak, this time showing a police chase in which the protagonist tries to escape from the forces of law.

We are all eagerly awaiting the release of GTA 6. Even without a specific date, we are all hoping it will come out around 2024 or 2025. That doesn’t mean that things aren’t gradually coming to light. After all, last year a generous amount of gameplay footage from the game leaked online, which, although in a very early state, allowed us to have a first glimpse of the most anticipated game of all time. Of course, Take-Two Interactive was quick to make it disappear, but almost a year later, it’s reappearing on the internet. And it shows us some very interesting things.

What does it show us? For example, police chases. With the female protagonist making an appearance, we can see in this short clip how she has to escape from two police cars chasing her closely, not letting her get away so easily. And

The original user is now banned

The user responsible for leaking all these small videos, which are packed with content—such as a party at a strip club or what appears to be the protagonist’s first hideout—is seeing most of them being taken down from X, the platform formerly known as Twitter, due to copyright claims. This gives legitimacy to the leak, making it seem genuine, although we should exercise caution. Take-Two Interactive might be taking action due to this person’s association with them using the username RockstarGTAVI, and they could consider it as spreading false information. This user is banned now, but we have the screenshot

Whether true or not, this is something yet to be confirmed, and we must remember something important: this is a very early version of the game. GTA VI will look significantly different, and likely better, than what we see in these videos. Therefore, we shouldn’t worry if it doesn’t meet our expectations. Or if we haven’t yet seen all the things that the developers have already confirmed will be included.

Waiting for the news about GTA 6

With that said, it’s expected that GTA 6 will be released sometime in the next year or the following year for PC, PlayStation 5, Xbox Series X, and Xbox Series S. There are rumors suggesting that it will be showcased at some point during this fall, and if that happens, a 2024 release can be anticipated. Historically, there has been a short time between the announcement of GTA games and their release. Either way, only time will tell what will happen with this highly anticipated game.
