In recent days, rumors have emerged about Netflix’s supremacy in the streaming world, especially following the recent announcements of new viewing figures. The movie Superman, released on HBO Max, has reached 13 million views in just 10 days. While this is a significant achievement for the platform, this number falls short compared to other milestones reached by Netflix.
Nobody beats Netflix
For example, their science fiction movie Electric State achieved an impressive figure of 25.2 million views in just 3 days, although it has been considered a disappointment regarding its expectations. Netflix, with 301.6 million subscribers worldwide, continues to dominate the streaming space, evidenced by the performance of Terminagolf 2, which garnered 87.5 million views in its first 10 days, although it did not make it into the historical Top 10 of the platform.
In addition, the competition is not far behind. The movie Red One from Prime Video achieved 50 million views in its first 4 days, but Amazon did not disclose data that would place it in direct comparisons with Netflix, highlighting the struggle for relevance in the market. In fact, Prime Video has faced similar criticisms in the past, as was recently the case with The Lord of the Rings: The Rings of Power, whose success also lagged behind for not meeting Netflix’s standards.
These numbers not only underscore Netflix’s dominance but also reveal the difficulty other platforms face in achieving the same magnitude of success. As streaming services continue to grow, the pressure on HBO Max and Prime Video will be palpable if they wish to compete on equal footing with the entertainment giant. Despite their progress, it seems there is still a long way to go to dethrone Netflix from the streaming throne.
