The strategy of Teamfight Tactics to retain its players

Teamfight Tactics, considered the biggest strategy game for PC in the world, has adopted an unusual philosophy regarding player exit from the game. Peter Whalen, the game director at Riot Games, has stated that it is completely acceptable for players to leave TFT from time to time, as their design approach is based on the premise that sooner or later they will return. The strategy of Teamfight Tactics to retain its players

Teamfight Tactics, considered the biggest strategy game for PC in the world, has adopted an unusual philosophy regarding player departures from the game. Peter Whalen, the game director at Riot Games, has stated that it is completely acceptable for players to leave TFT from time to time, as their design approach is based on the premise that sooner or later they will return. This cyclical strategy contrasts with common practices in the industry, where most games employ mechanics like daily missions and progression systems to keep players engaged in the long term, but that is not the case here.

You are going to come back, and you know it

Whalen argues that these techniques tend to reduce the overall audience, concentrating participation in a more restricted group of players. In his opinion, it is vital for game designers to take into account that players have a limited time to interact with the title, which leads to the inevitable rotation of users. For this reason, Riot Games has decided to focus not only on retaining players but also on creating great moments that encourage them to return.

To achieve this, TFT must ensure that players have a rewarding experience upon their return. This means that the game must combine familiarity with new elements, preventing users from feeling that their time away has left them at a disadvantage. Whalen emphasizes that the key is to design a fair gaming environment, where accounts are not negatively affected by the absence of players.

Despite the fact that player retention is a valid goal, for TFT, short-term merits are not the only measure of success. Design decisions are aimed at building trust with players, which could foster more sustainable long-term engagement, aligning the incentives of developers and users. Based on these considerations, TFT positions itself as an innovative example in the development of strategic video games.

TFT knows that you have been watching the series and its new patch revolves around Arcane

Arcane is causing a sensation with its second season. And rightly so. It’s a fabulous series that has managed to captivate people beyond the players of Riot’s games, who often don’t know much about the history of its characters. But the most striking thing is how the first season barely capitalized on this. Its games seemed to exist separately from the series, as if waiting for people to come to them just because they exist in the same universe. Something that doesn’t seem like it will happen twice. TFT knows that you have been watching the series and its new patch revolves around Arcane

Arcane is causing a sensation with its second season. It’s no wonder. It’s a fabulous series that has managed to captivate people beyond the players of Riot’s games. Many of whom often don’t know much about the history of their characters. But the most striking thing is how the first season barely capitalized on this. Its games seemed to exist apart from the series. As if waiting for people to come to them just because they exist in the same universe. Something that doesn’t seem like it will happen twice.

Arcane arrives in TFT, or to be exact, returns with more strength

TFT, at the beginning of November, has added a whole series of new units inspired by Arcane. But it won’t stop there. Because they have already confirmed their intention to continue doing so with Into the Arcane. However, we warn you now. From this point on, there will be spoilers for some characters that appear in the second season of the series.

What are the new units we will see? Mel Medarda, Warwick, and Viktor join the battle. Also, new Champions like Arcane Jinx Unbound or Arcane Warwick Unbound will give the game a different flavor. Closer to that of the series. Thus reinforcing what we have already seen in the first part of Into the Arcane.

The second season of Arcane has also served to reveal and clarify some points that were not too clear about the lore of League of Legends. Although we will not go into specific details about them, how they have clarified the origins of Warwick and Viktor, or the exact relationship between Vi and Jinx, is something that has always sparked interest among players most interested in the characters’ narrative. Giving a perfect closure to what was already a fabulous first season.

So, when will we be able to play with these Into the Arcane characters in TFT? Very soon. Next Thursday, December 5th. And if you haven’t watched the second season of Arcane yet, why not watch it before someone spoils it for you?

TFT is Riot’s biggest success only after League of Legends. The success of this auto-battler was such that, although it didn’t create the genre, it managed to popularize it in a way that seemed impossible until then. And it makes sense. It’s appealing, has a great license behind it, and is relatively easy to understand yet relatively deep. But it also has something undeniable. It’s not very well adapted for mobile devices. TFT is Riot’s biggest success only after League of Legends. The success of this auto-battler was such that, although it did not create the genre, it managed to popularize it in a way that seemed impossible until then. And it makes sense. It is appealing, has a great license behind it, and is relatively easy to understand and relatively deep. But it also has something undeniable. It is not very well adapted for mobile devices. And Riot knows that.

As you know, at Riot Games they have announced the release of Golden Spatula, a new auto-battler based on League of Legends. In fact, if you know TFT, this game is not something you are unfamiliar with. The heroes are the same, the dynamics as well, and although there are small changes here and there, it remains TFT.

What is the change that warrants a name change? Golden Spatula is an experience entirely designed for mobile devices. This is evident in both the UI, which is much more readable and usable on small screens, and in the gaming experience itself, with mechanics changed or slightly different compared to its PC version. This makes it a game that appears similar to TFT, but when played, feels like a somewhat different game.

Golden Spatula has already opened its registration, but only in Thailand, Malaysia, and Singapore. The rest of the world will still have to wait a little longer, but being Riot Games, it’s doubtful that they will make us wait too long before we can sink our teeth into this little golden gem.

Riot Games increases the price in all their games

Riot Games increases the price in all their games

Inflation is an inevitable fact. Over time, currency loses value, prices rise, and wages seemingly remain static. While we won’t be discussing economics or politics here, one thing is clear: companies want to make more money, or at least the same amount as before. That’s why it shouldn’t surprise us when online service-based companies decide to raise their prices, as has been the case with Riot.

Riot Games has announced changes in the regional pricing of their in-game currencies. This will affect all their games, though not necessarily every region where these games are available.
