The wait is almost over, as the highly anticipated chapters 3 and 4 of Deltarune will be released on June 5, a date that coincides with the arrival of the new Switch 2 console. This release has generated great excitement among fans, who are eager to enjoy the new adventures and the characteristic humor of creator Toby Fox.
A group of friends with a very defined sense of humor
In a recent interview with Destructoid, Fox shared his joke writing process, an essential aspect of his work. According to the developer, his first filter for evaluating whether a joke works is if he himself laughs. But he also takes into account the opinion of his friends, who have the privilege of trying the game before its release. “If none of my friends think something is funny, I can try to improve it,” Fox confessed, reflecting his commitment to the quality of humor in the game.
Despite his efforts, Fox revealed that some of his ideas did not achieve the desired effect. A specific comedic moment where the character Pizzapants (Burgerpants) talks about messages he has received failed to make his friends laugh, even after multiple modifications. “No one laughed,” Fox explained. Despite his work to adjust the dialogue, the final result still did not elicit laughter. “This story is funnier than the dialogue,” the creator commented, highlighting the difficulty of capturing humor.
As fans count down the days for the arrival of Deltarune, Toby Fox has also recommended some indie video games like Balatro and UFO 50 for them to enjoy while they wait. With the release so close, the gaming world is watching how this new installment will unfold and whether Fox’s humor will resonate better with players than with his close circle.
