Remedy Entertainment has surprised fans by advancing the release of its highly anticipated video game, Control Resonant, to the end of the second quarter of 2026. This change marks a significant difference from the initial projections that placed the release date in the first half of 2027. The news was revealed in a document detailing the company’s revenue estimates, indicating that this adjustment has drastically altered its financial performance forecasts for the coming years.
A game that promises to sell a lot
In terms of sales, Remedy expects Control Resonant to achieve approximately 1.8 million copies in 2026 and around 2.2 million during 2027. With the successful track record of the first Control, which sold 5 million units since its launch in 2019, the company believes that the conditions are favorable for Resonant to also succeed in the video game market.
Control Resonant will offer a renewed experience for the player, taking Dylan Faden, the brother of the protagonist Jesse Faden, beyond the Old House to the streets of Manhattan. The gameplay focus will shift to an action RPG with swords, promising dynamic and exciting gameplay in an urban environment. This change in direction aims not only to maintain the essence of the original title but also to introduce innovations that enrich the player’s experience.
Additionally, the Remedy document reveals that the company will receive royalties from the remakes of Max Payne 1 and 2, also in collaboration with Rockstar. Although these titles are expected to be released in 2026, the royalties will not arrive until 2027, highlighting the potential for future revenue for Remedy as it progresses with its current projects.
