SNEG and Games Workshop have announced the launch of Warhammer Classics, a new label aimed at revitalizing classic Warhammer games for a modern audience. This initiative seeks to offer iconic titles in an accessible and optimized form, ensuring they run smoothly on current hardware and operating systems. In its debut, Warhammer Classics will make available more than 20 games, of which 12 are re-releases on Steam and 7 are premieres on the platform.

Authentic cult gems

Oleg Klapovskiy, director of SNEG, emphasized that this collection not only represents a recount of old games but also a clear statement about the importance of preserving the fundamental Warhammer games for future generations. “Warhammer has a long history on PC, and we are committed to ensuring that the platform remains central to its long-term stewardship,” Klapovskiy noted.

Among the promised titles, the acclaimed strategy game from 1998, Warhammer 40,000: Chaos Gate, has been updated to improve stability and compatibility, incorporating new widescreen combat resolutions and support for a 16:9 user interface. However, as noted, some content may not reflect the current representations of the Warhammer universes due to its classic nature.

As part of the launch, a sale has been enabled on Steam with discounts ranging from 20% to 90% until April 20, representing an attractive opportunity for fans to acquire their favorite classics. Although some titles are older and may not be considered the best, others have made a significant mark in the history of Warhammer video games.

Henry Cavill, known for his roles in The Witcher and Man of Steel, has suffered a leg injury while training for the reboot of Highlander. Despite this setback, the actor has found a way to share his love for the Warhammer 40,000 universe during his recovery. In a recent Instagram post, Cavill shared an image of his injured leg, accompanied by his dog, but what caught the most attention was a poem he shared: Invictus, written by William Ernest Henley in 1875, which speaks about resilience and control over personal destiny.

Resilience and Warhammer 40,000

In addition to the image of the poem, the photo showed a book from the board game Warhammer: The Horus Heresy and, more subtly, a box of the Warhammer 40,000: Leviathan set on a nearby shelf. This inclusion of Warhammer-related material has sparked speculation about its future role in a possible film adaptation of the Warhammer 40,000 universe, which he could be leading. Fans suggest that the Horus Heresy book could be linked to a narrative exploring key events in the history of Warhammer.

Cavill is, without a doubt, one of the most prominent fans of the Warhammer 40,000 universe and, although his recent activity on social media seems to indicate his enthusiasm for the project, several analysts believe it may simply be a way to showcase his passion for the game. In this sense, the references might not be so much a preview of what is to come, but rather a celebration of his personal hobby.

As Cavill recovers from his injury, it is clear that the actor is deeply connected to the world of Warhammer, an interest he has expressed on multiple occasions throughout his career.

Among the highlighted promotions are the remasters of the beloved titles Dawn of War and Space Marine, as well as a new CRPG titled Dark Heresy, which is based on the Inquisition, confirming the ongoing expansion of the Warhammer universe in the digital realm.

Free games you shouldn’t miss for anything in the world

Players interested in enjoying free content have the opportunity to access the turn-based strategy game, Warhammer 40,000: Gladius – Relics of War, which will be available for free on Steam until May 29. This title is known for its tactical depth and its focus on continuous warfare, and it celebrates the release of its new DLC, the Onslaught Pack, which adds eight new units to the game.

For those looking for a more retro experience, the classic from 1999, Warhammer 40,000: Rites of War, is also available for free on GOG this week. This game allows players to take control of the Eldar, which sets it apart with its rich tactical mechanics, developed on the Panzer General 2 engine.

In a curious twist, Auroch Digital has transformed the first Boltgun into a clone of Typing of the Dead, titled Boltgun – Words of Vengeance. This new approach combines writing with action, and players can enjoy it for free on Steam, testing their ability to type thematic phrases while facing the forces of Chaos.

In addition, GOG offers a digital package of good memories and exclusive promotions in Blood Bowl 3, where players can claim a free coach for the Khorne team. With so much content available, Warhammer fans have plenty of reasons to celebrate at this event.

The community says it clearly: they want this faction of Warhammer 40,000 to be playable in Space Marine 2

The fervent followers of Warhammer 40,000 have begun to demand a DLC that includes the Sisters of Battle (Adepta Sororitas) as playable characters in Warhammer 40,000: Space Marine 2. This interest has been reflected in various posts on platforms like Reddit and Steam, where players discuss whether the inclusion of these warriors would be appropriate or if the title should focus exclusively on the Space Marines.

Some Nuns Take Up Arms

On one hand, some fans argue that the game, being called “Space Marine,” should be limited to characters from the Marine faction. These comments emphasize the game’s intention to focus on the narrative and combat mechanics that have characterized the franchise. However, there are those who believe that this restricted approach misses out on the great potential that a DLC featuring the Sisters of Battle could offer, both in terms of gameplay and narrative.

The Adepta Sororitas are not only a symbol of devotion, but they also have a rich history filled with betrayals and heroism within the Warhammer universe. With unique abilities and a diverse arsenal that includes distinctive weapons like the flamer, their inclusion could enhance the gaming experience, bringing new missions and operations that explore their glorious feats in the battle for the Empire.

If Saber Interactive decides not to include the Battle Sisters in the current title, some fans suggest that it could be the perfect time to launch an independent game that tells their epic story. This new project could follow the same formula as other successful smaller titles, such as Assassin’s Creed Mirage, offering a rich and engaging experience that not only expands the Warhammer universe but also celebrates these relentless warriors.

In summary, both a DLC for Warhammer 40,000: Space Marine 2 and an independent game focusing on the Adepta Sororitas are viable and desired options by the community, which could significantly transform the experience within one of the most iconic universes in gaming.

Warhammer 40,000: Space Marine 3 has been officially announced, following the notable commercial success of its predecessor, Space Marine 2, which has sold more copies than there are Tyranids on Kadaku. Although the news might seem like a reason to celebrate for fans of the franchise, some voices within the community have expressed concern that all efforts will focus on this new project, leaving Space Marine 2 abandoned and without new content.

Committed to both parties

However, both Saber Interactive and Focus Entertainment have responded to these concerns. In a statement published on Focus’s blog, they clarified that Space Marine 3 does not mean the end of the development of Space Marine 2. The company assured that no teams are being moved to the new project and that, in fact, they will continue to release additional content for the existing game.

Among the promised updates are new classes, operations, and melee weapons. These announcements come amid the anticipation for the upcoming major patch, known as patch 7 or the “Trygon update,” which will be released in April and will include a new Exfiltration map and a chapter pack that will add armor and weapon skins.

Space Marine 3 is still in its early stages of development and its release is not expected to happen for several years. Although Saber and Focus have not specified which team will be in charge of the new game, the information suggests that the creation could be the responsibility of a different group. This new approach has raised more questions than answers, as it is also unclear how the staff will be divided between the two projects.

As fans await more details about the direction of the franchise, the player community can count on the support of Saber and Focus, who are committed to continuing to provide exciting content for Space Marine 2 in the near future.
