HBO is moving forward with the production of a new television adaptation of Harry Potter, scheduled to premiere in 2027. This renewed project aims to provide a fresh and deeper experience of the magical world, expanding the narrative of J.K. Rowling’s novels over multiple seasons. Production has already begun at Warner Bros’ Leavesden studios in the UK.

Platform 9 and 3/4 is ready!

Warwick Davis, who played Professor Filius Flitwick in the eight original films, reprises his iconic role, while the cast will also include Dominic McLaughlin as Harry Potter, Arabella Stanton as Hermione Granger, and Alastair Stout as Ron Weasley. Other iconic characters are Albus Dumbledore, played by John Lithgow, and Severus Snape, portrayed by Paapa Essiedu. Additionally, the beloved Hagrid will be played by Nick Frost and Minerva McGonagall by Janet McTeer.

The series is under the direction of Francesca Gardiner, known for her work on Killing Eve, who will act as showrunner and writer. Mark Mylod, recognized for his work on Succession, is the director and also the executive producer of the project. Together with them, J.K. Rowling and other renowned producers such as Neil Blair and David Heyman oversee the production of the series.

The cast features a wide variety of characters, including the Weasley brothers, played by twins Tristan and Gabriel Harland as Fred and George, as well as Ruari Spooner as Percy and Gracie Cochrane as Ginny. This mix of veterans and new talents promises to revitalize the story that has captured the imagination of millions of fans around the world.
