We are eagerly awaiting the arrival of an Apple Watch worthy of being the tenth version of Apple’s watch. Just like the iPhone X brought a design change, the upcoming Apple Watch Series 10, also known as Apple Watch X, should mark a before and after. Now, the leaks published by 91mobiles have given us a glimpse of what the design of the next Apple Watch could be like.
An Ultra screen as the main novelty
The most outstanding feature of this version is the inclusion of a 2-inch screen, surpassing even that of the Apple Watch Ultra, which measures 1.93 inches. To accommodate this larger screen, the watch body would also grow compared to the Series 9. According to 91mobiles, the schematics show a case that measures approximately 46 mm x 39.7 mm x 11.6 mm, making it physically larger than the Series 9 (which has a 1.7-inch screen) and slightly smaller than the Ultra.
The exterior design of the watch seems to have not changed significantly. The images show the digital crown and a side button in the positions we already know, as well as a rounded body. The strap attachment mechanism also seems to have not changed, which means that current straps would still be compatible.
The 91mobiles leak actually corroborates previous reports from Ming-Chi Kuo, who claimed that the new watch would resemble the dimensions of the Ultra and come in sizes of 45 mm and 49 mm. On the other hand, Mark Gurman has stated in the past that this Apple Watch X would be launched in 2024 or 2025 to commemorate the tenth anniversary of the device.
Apple has announced the new models of Apple Watch in the fall, along with the release of the latest line of iPhones. If we follow the usual schedule, it would be in a few months, along with the launch of the iPhone 16 and the arrival of iOS 18, when we should see this new Apple Watch. The question remains whether this new version will arrive in 2024 or next year, although the release of the Apple Watch Series 9 last year gives us reasons to believe it will be this same year.
However, the Apple Watch Series 10, or Apple Watch X if we borrow the name from the iPhone, will bring good news. With a much larger screen, backward compatibility with current straps, and, hopefully, more power, more sensors, and more capabilities. We are facing a truly interesting watch. Of course, we are based on rumors, but everything indicates that this year, on the stage of the Steve Jobs Theater, Apple will give us some surprises.
