Windows 11 and Windows 10 users are encountering an unexpected surprise: the Mail and Calendar update, which is now becoming Outlook. This update started rolling out in early March and is already reaching most users.
Luckily, if you don’t feel like changing at the moment, you still have time. When you open both programs, an informative window will appear giving you two options: use the new Outlook or continue using the usual versions. Keep in mind that this is temporary and sooner or later, you will be required to use Outlook.
However, the change also comes with an unexpected addition: ads, at least if you’re not subscribed to Microsoft 365. To put it in context, the old Mail app did not have any type of advertising. On the other hand, Outlook Classic users will not be forced to switch to the new Outlook. According to Windows Latest, Microsoft plans to continue supporting it until 2029.
