In October 2023, Goosebumps, the Disney Plus series that adapts R.L. Stine’s books, premiered. With a perfect blend of horror and comedy for all audiences, the series was a success and they soon confirmed the second season on the same platform. However, it will have a completely new cast and a story that has nothing to do with the previous one, just like the Goosebumps books.
Now, Disney Plus has just announced its first signing for the series: David Schwimmer. The star of Friends, the iconic series that conquered the world in the 2000s and is still one of the most watched shows on platforms like Netflix today, has joined the cast of the series that aims to remain one of the biggest pillars of the streaming platform.

Don’t go down to the basement! The new Goosebumps story?
The synopsis of the new season of Goosebumps reads as follows: “Teenage siblings discover a looming threat, triggering a chain of events that lead to a deep mystery. As they venture into the unknown, the duo becomes entangled in the chilling story of four teenagers who mysteriously disappeared in 1994.”

The character played by David Schwimmer is Anthony, who has been described as “a former botany professor and divorced father of teenage twins whose world takes a tumultuous turn as he juggles the responsibilities of overseeing an elderly father while taking care of his children during the summer.”
Although we don’t have any more clues about the new season, everything seems to indicate that it will follow the book Stay Out of the Basement, one of the most iconic books of Goosebumps in which one of the main elements is, precisely, a botany book. Undoubtedly, it is a perfect story to turn into a series.
