Dispatch is a new video game developed by AdHoc Studios, a team made up of former employees of Telltale Games. This title presents itself as an animated comedy that follows the misadventures of a retired superhero who now runs a call center for a group of reformed criminals and losers. The combination of humor and management promises to offer a unique experience, integrating a solid management simulator within the typical narrative of interactive adventures, which is characteristic of this studio.
Superpandemic!
Originally, Dispatch was going to be an interactive television series, but the onset of the Covid-19 pandemic forced the developers to pause the project and adapt it to a video game format. Creative director Dennis Lenart emphasized that the original plan had been to work on an interactive television show since 2018. However, the chaos caused by the pandemic led to a reevaluation of the project and its eventual conversion into a game. Lenart mentioned that, despite this change, the inspiration from prestigious shows like Barry and The Bear continues to be a fundamental pillar in the game’s narrative.
Dispatch is scheduled for release on October 22. Interested players can look forward to a first glimpse of the game in issue 415 of PC Gamer magazine, which will be published on October 9. This new work seems to maintain the spirit of character exploration and narrative development that characterized Telltale, while daring to incorporate management elements that may attract a broader audience. The combination of comedy, emotion, and strategy aims to make Dispatch a title that should not be overlooked in this year’s release calendar.
