Netflix dropped The Umbrella Academy season 4 , its fourth and final season, on August 8, 2024. That release finally closed out the Hargreeves siblings’ story.
This last stretch runs six episodes. It starts after season 3’s universe reset, with the siblings scattered across a new timeline, stripped of their powers, and staring down yet another apocalypse as broken timelines start bleeding into each other.
And if you saw people online saying the gap after season 3 was six years, it wasn’t. The wait was closer to two.
If you’ve stuck with The Umbrella Academy, there’s still a reason to watch this ending just for the closure. At the same time, the shortened final season is also why a lot of fans came away feeling like it was rushed and undercooked.
The numbers make it pretty clear why Netflix is calling The Umbrella Academy season 4 a hit. Netflix says season 4 pulled in 8.4 million views in its first six days. Nielsen also reported that The Umbrella Academy was the most-streamed series in the U.S. in August 2024, with 160.2 million views from more than 20 million viewers.
Reviews, though, were all over the place. The season sat at 59% on Rotten Tomatoes, and the audience score on Rotten Tomatoes was even lower.

What you probably shouldn’t expect is a Sparrow Academy spin-off. Gerard Way is still keeping the franchise going in comics, though, with The Umbrella Academy: Plan B.
