We are nearing the end of a golden era. When the final episodes of Season 3 air on July 27, Henry Cavill will step down as Geralt of Rivia and Liam Hemsworth will take over the role for the next few seasons.
In a new trailer, Netflix shows what fans can expect from Part 2 of Season 3, and it looks like one big bloody war. At one point, Geralt’s sword shatters in battle, suggesting that his new big enemy is tough, and the trailer ends with him saying, “There’s no turning back.”
Farewell Henry Cavill, you will be missed
The first half – or volume, as Netflix is calling it – of The Witcher’s third season began airing in June, and it was setting up a full-scale conflict for Henry Cavill, so he can say goodbye as he should.
Here’s the official synopsis for the season’s conclusion, which will consist of just three episodes:
“As monarchs, wizards and beasts of the Continent vie to capture her, Geralt takes Ciri into hiding, determined to protect his newly reunited family against those who threaten to destroy it. In charge of Ciri’s magical training, Yennefer leads them to the protected fortress of Aretuza, where they hope to discover more about the girl’s untapped powers; instead, they discover they have landed on a battlefield of political corruption, dark magic and betrayal. They will have to fight back, put it all on the line or risk losing each other forever.”

According to the show’s producers, the idea to split the season was inspired in part by Stranger Things 4, as well as a desire to have a cliffhanger that viewers would have time to discuss.
“In a streaming world, cliffhangers don’t really exist because you hit play right after an episode ends,” executive producer Steve Gaub told The Verge. “You don’t have the satisfaction of anticipation, discussion and chatter. So we wanted to give it to the fans, and the story was there for us to do that.”
