Meta plans to introduce ads within its platform at the beginning of next year, according to Reuters. The microblogging network was launched in July 2023, an attempt to gain users who left X during the transition to Elon Musk’s new ownership.
Starting in January, Threads will allow a small group of brands to post ads within the platform. This will be managed by a team within Instagram’s advertising division, according to information reported by Reuters.
A spokesperson for Meta has clarified that the priority of Threads at the moment is “to create value for the consumer” and that there are no “ads or monetization features” within the platform.
Last month, Zuckerberg stated that Threads had already reached 275 million monthly active users. Although the figure is far from the nearly 600 million of X, the truth is that it’s not bad at all for having just over a year of existence.
