Mean Girls, better known by its original title Mean Girls, is a film that went from being just another teen movie to a cult classic recognized worldwide. Released in 2004, the movie starring Lindsay Lohan and Rachel McAdams managed to make a mark in its own genre, and soon a large fandom began to emerge around it.
Based on the book ‘Queen Bees and Wannabes’ by Rosalind Wiseman, the movie soon became a highly successful theater musical. And, of course, at some point, this musical version would have to make its way to the cinemas. Below, we present you with the trailer for Mean Girls: the musical.
The Plastics are back
The Broadway musical arrived in 2018, led by Tina Fey, the actress from the film who also served as the writer and producer. She will reprise these last two roles in the film version of the musical, which will be directed by Samantha Jayne. She will also play the same original character, but the rest of the cast changes for obvious reasons. The protagonists this time will be Angourie Rice as Cady Heron, Auli’i Cravalho as Janis Ian, Reneé Rapp as Regina George, Avantika as Karen Shetty, and Christopher Briney as Aaron Samuels.

The story of Mean Girls follows Cady Heron, a girl who, almost unintentionally, ends up immersed in the high school group known as ‘the Plastics.’ It is a group led by the fabulous Regina George, which has certain unwritten rules that must be followed to remain part of the popular crowd. Among them, of course, falsehood, cruelty, and betrayal are everyday occurrences.
Everything seems to be going well, but when Heron falls in love with Aaron Samuels, Regina George’s ex-boyfriend, everything starts to go awry. High school can be a nightmare even when you’re one of the most popular people. On January 12, 2024, we will relive the story.
