The introduction of the Wallbox Quasar 2 bi-directional home charger allows EV9 owners to harness their vehicles’ power during emergencies and potentially save significantly on energy costs.
With the Quasar 2, which starts at $6,440 (excluding taxes and installation), Kia EV9 owners can turn their electric SUV into a backup power source, capable of providing energy to their homes for up to three days.

This feature, known as Vehicle-to-Home (V2H) capability, is invaluable during power outages, ensuring that essential devices remain operational when they matter most.
The system incorporates Wallbox’s Power Recovery Unit, which works in tandem with the Quasar 2 to maximize energy efficiency. According to Wallbox, users could save as much as $1,500 each year on energy bills by utilizing this innovative technology.
The Quasar 2 also allows EV9 owners to charge their vehicles using solar energy, further enhancing its cost-saving potential when coupled with solar panels.
Orders for the Quasar 2 are currently open, though pre-orders are limited to select states, including California, Texas, Florida, New York, Washington, New Jersey, and Illinois. Interested customers can place a deposit of $100 to join a waitlist, with plans for a nationwide rollout in the near future.
