Rumors have been circulating for a while that Pokémon Ruby and Sapphire could come to Nintendo Switch at some point in the future. Until now, they were only rumors based solely on how much people wanted to believe them, now we have a concrete reason to believe there could be some truth to them. Because an official Pokémon account has posted some images that don’t match anything we’ve seen before. And that could very well explain all those rumors.
A Pokémon that seems to be in the works
The Pokémon Times account on X, the social network formerly known as Twitter, has posted a video of Pokémon Ruby and Sapphire. What’s peculiar about this is that Pokémon Times describes itself as an official account for information related to Pokémon and, in particular, to Pokémon Pokopia, and and the image quality, according to fans, doesn’t match that of the Game Boy Advance games. It shows a level of detail far superior to that of the original games.
This isn’t any kind of confirmation that the game is going to be re-released on Nintendo Switch, but it does feed the idea that there could very well be a port coming to the console. Especially since Pokémon FireRed and Pokémon LeafGreen have been ported before.
To learn more and find out whether that actually happens, we’ll have to wait. But given how successful previous Game Boy Advance Pokémon ports on Nintendo Switch have been, it shouldn’t surprise us if Nintendo has decided to do it again. Although, again, for now we’ll have to make do with this video and the hope that this is real. Or dust off our old cartridge and play on our old consoles, which is still an equally legitimate way to replay these terrific games.
