CD Projekt RED has announced that Cyberpunk 2077 will receive new content in the form of DLC on October 16, 2025. However, this content will not be available for the original game, but will be developed in collaboration with the free tactical shooter Arena Breakout: Infinite, from Tencent Games Cube Studio, published by Level Infinite. This collaboration will include new events and cosmetic skins, although many details are still to be confirmed.
Another disappointment
Since its controversial launch in December 2020, Cyberpunk 2077 faced criticism, especially on last-generation consoles, but has significantly improved with updates and the expansion Phantom Liberty, released in 2023. Although a multiplayer mode was originally planned for the game, it was canceled to prioritize bug fixes and enhance the overall experience.
Despite the improvements, the future inclusion of multiplayer in Cyberpunk 2077 seems unlikely in upcoming expansions. This DLC announcement has generated mixed opinions among users. Some fear that the collaboration with Arena Breakout: Infinite may compromise the realistic experience and atmosphere of the shooter, which is characterized by its PvPvE combat and a focus on tactical decisions. Others, however, see the addition of elements from the Cyberpunk universe as an interesting attraction.
The collaboration has generated a stir on social media, where some fans have expressed their desire to see iconic outfits like Johnny Silverhand’s in Arena Breakout: Infinite. However, there are also those who are asking for the game to be released on consoles so they can enjoy its tactical action in a more accessible format.
With the arrival of this DLC nearly five years after the initial criticisms, many are wondering how this crossover of universes will unfold and whether it will satisfy the diverse player base of both titles.
