Wistron has opened its first U.S. factory in Fort Worth, Texas, backing the project with a $700 million investment. The plant will handle mass production of Nvidia’s GB300 Grace Blackwell Ultra Superchip systems for the U.S. market.
The 324,000-square-foot facility is already up and running. Nvidia says it’s the first site in the United States both to build and mass-produce the GB300 Grace Blackwell Ultra platform, and it also marks Wistron’s first manufacturing base in the country. The company says the factory is also lined up to produce Vera Rubin superchips, which puts Texas at the center of future server deployments as demand keeps climbing.
For anyone watching Nvidia’s supply chain, that matters. Making these systems in the U.S. can ease bottlenecks, speed up delivery, and lower the risk that overseas disruptions throw production off track. It also fits into Nvidia’s broader plan to pour as much as $500 billion into U.S. manufacturing and computing infrastructure over the next four years, according to the company.
Wistron expects output to reach tens of thousands of computing boards per month within a year, with the factory operating at roughly 60% automation. The company also says the project has already created more than 500 jobs, and that figure is expected to reach 1,000 by the end of the year.
Before construction started, Wistron used Nvidia Omniverse to create a digital twin of the plant. After the factory opened, shares of Wistron and its subsidiary Wiwynn climbed in Taiwan, and Wistron is already planning a second, larger Fort Worth site called D2. The Fort Worth factory is producing Nvidia systems for the U.S. market.
