For almost twenty years, ‘World of Warcraft‘ has been the most defining (and definitive) MMO in the history of video games. Many come and go, some challenge it, but no one can match Blizzard’s golden goose. Despite dealing with the consequences of ‘Dragonflight,’ its ninth expansion, Blizzard has announced at BlizzCon that there is still a lot more to come: in fact, a new saga is on the way… and it begins in 2024.
WoW!
‘The war within’ will be the expansion that kicks off the known Worldsoul Saga, which will last at least six years and continue through the planned expansions ‘Midnight’ and ‘The last titan’. But let’s take it step by step, because the first thing is to know what the hell we’re going to find next year in Azeroth.
If the world’s surface feels small to you, Blizzard opens up the possibility to explore completely new underground realms, thus expanding the available races in the game: the Earthen will be available for the Alliance, an ancient culture that was once created by the Titans to shape the underground regions of Azeroth. After years of hearing their story, now, finally, the player will be able to control it.
Additionally, ‘The war within’ will allow the most dedicated players to reach level 80. Upon reaching this maximum level, players can, either solo or in groups, venture into the Abyss, new places where they can acquire new abilities. And this is just the beginning.
As they have described, ‘Midnight’ will take us back to the lands of Quel’Thalas, and ‘The last titan’ will show us the resurgence of the Titans, something that will inevitably lead to uncovering a conspiracy that could change everything in the classic MMO. A new adventure begins, and it seems like it will outlast all of us.
