In today’s entertainment world, nothing is virtually impossible, but it does seem that we will never see (unless it’s with the “imagination” of a bored 19-year-old at home tinkering with AI) Supergirl hanging out with the Guardians of the Galaxy. However, after watching the first trailers, the audience has inevitably started to compare. Whether it’s the same tone, the same jokes, or James Gunn… And in the end, the director himself had to step in to set things straight.

Craig Gillespie, known for I, Tonya or Cruella, has stated that he has no choice but to accept it: “I don’t think I can avoid it. We’re on the same stage, but I’ve always played on it. There aren’t that many space movies, and we’re in the superhero universe, with that mix of humor, darkness, and drama that I love“. Translated another way: well, okay, it looks a little bit similar.
However, he has stated that the resemblance is more or less logical, given that his boss is none other than Gunn: “It was great to have more of a director than an executive. You can roll up your sleeves and have a healthy debate. We talked about the smallest things, like the musical choices, that kind of back and forth“.
Will Supergirl be a success or a tremendous failure? Is there real interest from the public in getting to know Superman’s cousin, or, on the contrary, did Gunn’s luck begin and end with his first movie? We will find out on June 26.
