It’s great news to see that Xbox is providing faster download speeds, especially since the Xbox app isn’t known for its fast downloads.
Apparently, the latest Xbox Insider updates have significantly increased the download speed of games on Xbox consoles. In my case, it seems a bit strange, as they’re downloading almost at the maximum speed of my network (1 Gbps). Everything revolves around Xbox this week.
While downloading games, @IdleSloth84_ noticed that the speed increased to 380 MB/second while the games were running in the background, and to 480 MB/second without any games running.
Other Xbox users reported noticing an increase of up to 800 MB/second, which is 10 times faster than the average of 40 to 80 MB/second.
All of this is due to the latest updates that have arrived to the Alpha Skip-Ahead insider channel, where Xbox mentioned one of the new features and experiences coming to Xbox Series X and S is an improved download experience while playing.
This improvement comes at a time when there is a discussion about converting Xbox into a fully digital system. By becoming fully digital, it wouldn’t make sense to buy video games in physical format, something that not all Xbox users or gamers agree with.
It has also sparked a conversation about whether Xbox will stop working on new consoles or will focus entirely on game publishing, something that Phil Spencer, head of Xbox, has ruled out.
However, it is great news to see that Xbox provides faster download speeds, given that the Xbox app is not famous for its fast downloads. The improvement will undoubtedly be well received by Xbox users everywhere, assuming they have the proper internet speed to match the app’s download speed.
The improvement is available within the Xbox Insider Program, and it will take a few days/weeks to be released to the general public, but once it’s there, make sure your Internet provider can match the enormous download speed.
