Your next match on Tinder will be chosen by your mother
More than 75% of young singles talk about their dates several times a month with their friends. For that reason, what better than your mother looking for your next…
The 21st century will be remembered for many things. But among them, there’s a special place for the new way of dating: via smartphone and by looking at photos. Goodbye to meeting your partner in bars or at university, now you read a biography and see some pictures first.
For this reason, if you’re the type of person who seeks help from friends and family in your love life, Tinder wants to make things easier for you by allowing you to suggest potential matches directly from the app. It’s better than spending 500 euros a month.
Tinder’s new Matchmaker feature allows users to invite their loved ones, whether they have a Tinder profile or not, to view and recommend potential partners, thus integrating a “friends’ test” into the dating app.
This is how the Celestina function works
Tinder Matchmaker is now available in 15 countries, including the USA, UK, Australia, Canada, France, and Germany, with a global rollout expected “in the coming months.”
Users can start a Matchmaker session directly from their profile or from the app settings, creating a link that can be shared with up to 15 friends or family members.
Participating loved ones (or “matchmakers”) have 24 hours to recommend profiles before the session expires. Matchmakers cannot chat or send messages to potential matches on behalf of the inviting user.

Once the session is over, the Tinder user reviews the candidates suggested by their loved ones. The profiles that are liked by the matchmakers will be marked as “recommendation,” but the Tinder user who invited them still has the final say on whom to officially “like” in the application.
If your friends and family are anything like mine, I imagine Matchmaker will be used more for trolling than actually helping you in your love life, but it remains an interesting feature for those needing input on their dates.
According to a study commissioned by Tinder, over 75% of young singles discuss their dates with their friends several times a month, so this streamlines the process a bit. And if you’re out of luck, why not let your grandma vet your next date?
