Match Group, the company behind platforms like Tinder and Hinge, has announced the introduction of an artificial intelligence assistant that promises to revolutionize the online dating experience. According to The Guardian, this new assistant will be launched in March 2025 and will offer features such as choosing the most attractive photos, suggesting texts for profiles, and helping to find ideal matches. Additionally, the AI will conduct interviews with users to understand their expectations and will suggest personalized messages based on shared interests.

Bernard Kim, CEO of Match Group, described this advancement as the beginning of an “AI-based transformation” for the company. According to Kim, this technology will influence all aspects of the dating process, from profile creation to connecting with potential partners. “This advancement is revolutionary for dating, and we want to integrate it across our entire portfolio of platforms,” he stated. However, these innovations come at a time when the use of dating apps has declined, according to a report by Ofcom that revealed the loss of 750,000 users in the UK in the past year.

For his part, Gary Swidler, president and chief financial officer of Match Group, highlighted that AI will make the experience more efficient, simplifying processes and improving results. “AI can analyze profiles and offer suggestions that optimize both matching and subsequent interactions,” he explained. However, not everyone shares his enthusiasm. Anastasiia Babash, a researcher in Estonia, warns that relying on AI can harm people’s ability to interact authentically. “This could lead to an excessive dependence on technology and a loss of personal agency in interactions,” she opined.

Additionally, Babash expressed concern about data privacy and the potential biases inherent in AI algorithms. “The massive collection of personal data poses security and misuse risks, in addition to perpetuating stereotypes if the biases present in AI systems are not corrected,” he warned. Meanwhile, Faye Iosotaluno, CEO of Tinder, emphasized that the company handles data with caution and is committed to using AI in an ethical and beneficial manner.

With these promises, Match Group’s bet on AI aims to redefine online dating, although the company will need to address significant ethical and privacy issues to convince both users and critics.

Tokyo creates its own Tinder: no casual encounters, only marriages

The city of Tokyo plans to launch a dating app in the coming months, hoping it will help address the declining population in Japan.

TikTok DOWNLOAD

The application is one of several efforts by the city of Tokyo that “leverages the specialized knowledge and know-how of private business operators” to provide “an AI matching system that introduces people with a high probability of establishing a relationship based on values and more.” Here is the original publication.

The efforts are aimed at helping to drive down the country’s population and were announced a day before Ministry of Health data revealed that Japan’s birth rate had reached a new historic low of 1.2 children per woman in 2023.

An app for marriages, not a dating app

Eager to solve some inherent problems of those other dating apps, the paid platform will include a background check of individuals to ensure that members are truly single and willing to get married.

To do this, users must submit documentation and undergo interviews with a private company working with the application.

The platform will even ask users for tax information to prove their income. Height, academic background, and occupation will also be revealed to potential partners.

“There is something about using a service where you know, more or less, that the person you could potentially have a date with is exactly what the app says they are, including occupation and salary, that seems to have more success,” commented a Reddit user who claimed to know people who have found life partners through similar government programs.

“Of course, it also means that the chances of getting that first opportunity are much lower if you have a particularly undesirable job or background, because you will be quickly filtered out by the opposite sex,” added the Redditor.

The application is part of a marriage promotion plan for which the Tokyo government allocated 200 million yen ($1.3 million) from the fiscal year 2023 budget and 300 million yen ($1.93 million) from the fiscal year 2024 budget.

The National Institute of Population and Social Security Research predicted last year that Japan’s population will decrease by 30% to 87 million by 2070, when 40% of its population will be over 65 years old.

The country is already feeling the effects of population decline and aging. That is why the government has imposed restrictions on overtime, as those who can work tend to do so excessively, which does not allow them to seek a partner or have children.

The new feature of Tinder will allow you to comfortably share details of your upcoming date

Tinder has launched “Share My Date”, a feature that allows users to share the details of their dates directly from the app, making it easier to communicate their plans to friends and family. According to TechCrunch, this new feature is inspired by the fact that 51% of singles under 30 share the details of their dates with friends before meeting them.

Tinder DOWNLOAD

Announced this Monday, this new feature of Tinder allows you to send a link that includes information about your date, such as the person’s name, the meeting place, the date and time of the appointment, along with the option to add a personal note. The links are editable and can be sent up to 30 days before the appointment.

These links are visible to all recipients, even those who are not Tinder users. Friends with Tinder accounts can see the complete profile of the match, but they cannot interact with it. Non-users will see a limited version of the profile in their browser.

Tinder aims to create a safe and respectful dating experience by allowing users to quickly and easily share basic information with their close circles. In addition, the links expire after a certain time to discourage users from sharing them on social media. “Share My Date” will be launched in several countries in the coming months, including United States, United Kingdom, Australia, Canada, Spain, and India, among others.

This release comes at a time when dating apps are experiencing slower growth. In January, there were approximately 12.7 million installations of this type of apps in the United States, representing an increase of only 2.38%, compared to the 16% growth experienced last year. Additionally, in the fourth quarter of 2023, the total number of paying Tinder customers decreased by 8% year-on-year, reaching 10 million.

Your next match on Tinder will be chosen by your mother

More than 75% of young singles talk about their dates several times a month with their friends. For that reason, what better than your mother looking for your next…

The 21st century will be remembered for many things. But among them, there’s a special place for the new way of dating: via smartphone and by looking at photos. Goodbye to meeting your partner in bars or at university, now you read a biography and see some pictures first.

Tinder DOWNLOAD

For this reason, if you’re the type of person who seeks help from friends and family in your love life, Tinder wants to make things easier for you by allowing you to suggest potential matches directly from the app. It’s better than spending 500 euros a month.

Tinder’s new Matchmaker feature allows users to invite their loved ones, whether they have a Tinder profile or not, to view and recommend potential partners, thus integrating a “friends’ test” into the dating app.

This is how the Celestina function works

Tinder Matchmaker is now available in 15 countries, including the USA, UK, Australia, Canada, France, and Germany, with a global rollout expected “in the coming months.”

Users can start a Matchmaker session directly from their profile or from the app settings, creating a link that can be shared with up to 15 friends or family members.

Participating loved ones (or “matchmakers”) have 24 hours to recommend profiles before the session expires. Matchmakers cannot chat or send messages to potential matches on behalf of the inviting user.

Once the session is over, the Tinder user reviews the candidates suggested by their loved ones. The profiles that are liked by the matchmakers will be marked as “recommendation,” but the Tinder user who invited them still has the final say on whom to officially “like” in the application.

If your friends and family are anything like mine, I imagine Matchmaker will be used more for trolling than actually helping you in your love life, but it remains an interesting feature for those needing input on their dates.

According to a study commissioned by Tinder, over 75% of young singles discuss their dates with their friends several times a month, so this streamlines the process a bit. And if you’re out of luck, why not let your grandma vet your next date?

Nobody tells Jada Pinkett Smith to stop, and she will write a book with Will Smith

“I hope that one day we can write a book together about how we have managed to overcome so much. And all the doors we have passed through. And there have been so many, and so many to come”

If you’ve been on the internet this week, it’s very likely that you’ve ended up inundated with headlines that start with “Jada Pinkett Smith reveals.” She reveals that she lives separately from her husband, reveals that she fell in love with him again after the slap at the Oscars, reveals that her family gave her the freedom to write her biography, reveals that she likes sunny-side-up fried eggs. She just keeps on revealing. And the worst part is that the colossal annoyance has only just begun.

Tinder DOWNLOAD

Please, that’s enough now

For some reason, Jada and Will are convinced that they can teach us a lot about life and love, as if the rest of us mortals have never had romantic problems and therefore don’t know how to behave. The actress has now said that she and her still-husband are going to write a book together called ‘Don’t Try This at Home,’ telling… well, whatever they have left to tell. Which isn’t much.

They have been married since 1997 and apparently separated 19 years later, when their children were grown and independent. However, she promised him they would never separate, and that held true. They can each be involved with whomever they want, they don’t live in the same house, but if one has to defend the other from a joke at the Oscars, they will.

“I hope that one day we can write a book together about how we managed to overcome so much. And all the doors we have passed through. And there have been so many, and many more are yet to come. But… the process he’s going through right now, I think it would help a lot of men.” The good thing about being famous is that you overestimate what you can contribute to the world, which in this case is just making headlines and not much else.

Will Smith, on his part, says that reading the part about their marriage in Jada’s memoir made something click inside him. Maybe that’s what made him refer to her as “wife” again at the Oscars. This couple urgently needs therapy… and they are using books for it. And the rest of us have to endure their drama.

Would you pay $500 to message people you’re not matched with on Tinder?

Tinder says it only offers the plan to less than 1% of its users it considers “extremely active.” This is what the Tinder Premium rate consists of…

We discussed this topic 5 months ago. At that time, it seemed like a joke to us because we didn’t believe anyone would spend 500 dollars a month to find a date through an app. Now we know it’s true, which is what the Premium subscription entails.

Tinder DOWNLOAD

Tinder recently announced the 499-dollar per month subscription, Tinder Select, by invitation only, as reported by Bloomberg. As part of the premium plan, subscribers can send messages to people with whom they haven’t matched, while the “most sought-after” users will have their profiles seen.

Tinder says it offers the plan to less than 1% of its users whom it considers “extremely active,” and the invitations will be opened continuously.

Spending half of your salary to date “the best”

“We know there is a subset of highly engaged and active users who prioritize more effective and efficient ways to find connections,” said Tinder’s Chief Product Officer, Mark Van Ryswyk. “So, we engaged in extensive testing and feedback with this audience over the past few months to develop an entirely new offering.”

If selected to apply, users will have to pass the company’s “5-point selection screen.” This means their profile must include a verified photo, a bio, five interests, at least four pictures, and details about the type of relationship they are seeking.

If their application is approved, members can add an exclusive Select badge to their profile. Similar to Twitter’s new option to hide the blue verification checkmark, Select members can also hide the badge if they don’t want people to know they have paid for the highest-level package.

The new subscription comes a year after Match Group, Tinder’s parent company, purchased the invitation-only dating app The League, aimed at “ambitious, career-focused singles.” That app can cost users up to $1,000 per week.

The League’s success inspired Tinder Select, but unlike Tinder, The League uses real human matchmakers—not just algorithms—that might help subscribers justify the cost.

In contrast, Tinder Select adds more features to the existing three plans, which start at $24.99 per month.

For example, with Select, Tinder promises greater visibility, even among its “most sought-after” users, while Tinder Select profiles will appear unblurred in someone’s “Likes” grid, even if that person doesn’t pay for a Gold or Platinum subscription.

Furthermore, Tinder Select subscribers can send direct messages to people they haven’t matched with up to two times a week. However, the company’s website adds that some recipients may choose not to receive these messages.

Despite everything, Match Group executives have high hopes for Tinder Select. The offering, which could cost a user $6,000 per year, is expected to have a significant impact on revenue.

So far, the primary appeal of Tinder Select seems to lie in its exclusivity and the opportunity to improve your chances with “the most sought-after girls and guys.”

For $499, Tinder offers matches with top-tier profiles

Tinder’s just unveiled their elite membership tier, cheekily named “Tinder Select.” And yep, it comes with a posh price tag of $499 a month. But what’s the buzz about? Well, this isn’t just about swiping right. It’s about swiping right in style.

With “Tinder Select,” you’re not just another face in the crowd. You get to rub virtual shoulders with Tinder‘s crème de la crème profiles. Slide into DMs without the usual match routine? Check. Plus, other swanky VIP perks that’ll make your friends green with envy.

Tinder DOWNLOAD

Bloomberg was the first to report the news, and it’s all part of Match Group’s grand plan to woo the Gen Z crowd this season. But here’s the real catch: it’s not just the features that make “Tinder Select” the talk of the town. It’s the allure of being in that exclusive 1% club. And for those who love a little extra sparkle, there’s a shiny “Select” badge to flaunt on your profile.

Inspired by “The League”

Remember Match’s acquisition of the ritzy dating app, The League, back in July 2022? You know, the one that had some folks shelling out a whopping $1,000 weekly? Well, that move got Tinder’s gears turning. During a Q2 2023 chinwag, Tinder’s CPO, Mark Van Ryswyk, hinted that The League’s success showed there’s a crowd hungry for top-tier dating experiences, even if it means loosening the purse strings.

Enter “Tinder Select.” But before you imagine a personal cupid or matchmaker, pump the brakes. This isn’t about human touch; it’s about algorithmic allure. And while the $500 monthly tag might raise eyebrows, it’s not just about the features—it’s the status.

Diving into the perks: “Select” members can slide into DMs without the match dance, but there’s a catch. You can only pull this move twice a week, and no, you can’t sprinkle in a Super Like. Some folks can even dodge these DMs if they choose, as per Tinder’s fine print. But here’s a fun twist: “Select” profiles get the spotlight in the app’s “Like You” grid for a whole week, no need for those Gold or Platinum upgrades.

The real cherry on top? Being showcased to Tinder’s A-listers, the profiles everyone’s swiping right on. While Tinder’s playing coy about the tech magic behind these “exceptional connections,” we’re betting it’s a mix of other “Select” members and the app’s most-loved profiles.

Early access perks

For those who like to be ahead of the curve, “Tinder Select” members get the golden ticket to try out Tinder’s shiny new features before the rest of the crowd. And if ads cramp your style, worry not! You can blissfully swipe without those pesky interruptions. Plus, for the forgetful romantics, you can revisit the Likes you’ve sent over the past week. Handy, right?

Thinking of going all out? You can layer your “Select” membership with Plus, Gold, or Platinum for an even richer experience, as Tinder cheekily points out.

Now, if you’re eyeing that “Select” badge, there’s a checklist to tick off. A quartet of photos, a handful of interests, a snappy bio, clear relationship goals, and a verified photo are your tickets in. Oh, and a wallet that’s, well, pretty generous when it comes to dating app splurges. Lucky applicants will get a digital drumroll in the form of an in-app message and an email with a special key to the “Select” kingdom.

While “Tinder Select” might not be everyone’s cup of tea, its luxe price tag could be a silver lining for Tinder. Especially since the company’s been feeling the pinch with a dip in paying users, as they shared in their August report.

Picture-Perfect Matches: Tinder’s AI-Powered Feature to Boost Your Dating Success

AI can answer users questions about which photo best represents them and take the stress out of selection.

The dating app is testing an artificial intelligence tool that selects users’ prettiest photos for their profiles, in the hope that it will increase the chances of someone matching you.

The tool will examine the user’s photo album and select the five images that best represent the user.

Bernard Kim, CEO of Match Group, which owns Tinder, says AI can answer users’ queries about which photo best represents them and take the stress out of selection.

AI knows better than you do when you look your best

“I really believe that AI can help our users build better profiles in a more efficient way that really showcase their personalities,” Kim explained.

He said Match Group would roll out a series of initiatives that use generative AI to “eliminate awkwardness” and make dating more rewarding.

Tinder has also been testing other AI features for cutting-edge technology to play a bigger role in matters of the heart.

In a letter to shareholders this week, Match stated that the app planned to use AI to “deliver the right content to the right people to help improve relevance and ultimately user outcomes,” i.e., fewer swipes to the left.

Tinder has more than 75 million active users

Mark Van Ryswyk, Tinder’s chief product officer, also hinted last month that the app could adopt generative AI – tools that produce compelling text and images on demand – to help users write their bios.

The biography feature is still in its early stages and is only available in test markets, but it uses an AI system that suggests personalized text tailored to the “interests” and “relationship goals” sections of users’ profiles.

According to Van Ryswk, a recent Tinder study has shown that a third of its users would “absolutely” use generative AI to help them create a profile.

The study revealed that more than half of single men would use chatbots to help talk to potential dates, and more than 52% would use it to increase the number of people they talk to at once on dating apps.

Most single adults would use ChatGPT to help with online conversations, but only 37% said they would be open to using it to enhance their profiles.

When Flirting Goes Wrong: Exploring the Artistry of Terrible Tinder Flirting

If you’ve ever wondered “Can I tell what I’m doing wrong?” When you Match, consider that you may have fallen for one of these flirty barbasas.

If you’ve never been on a Tinder date, consider yourself one of the luckiest people in the world. Flirting in a nightclub is already rare normally, but at least you have the music, the alcohol and the night to help you (the face if you’re an attractive person). Imagine if all you have is a cell phone, a keyboard and unsuccessful attempts at seduction. If you’ve ever asked yourself “Can you tell what I’m doing wrong?” when you match, consider that you may have fallen for one of these flirty barbs.

Tinder DOWNLOAD

Getting off on the wrong foot

Flirting on Tinder is difficult, it’s true, but there are people who make it especially complicated. On the Internet we can see from people who open conversation with “Hey, what do you like? Is psychology fun? I have a degree in accounting and it’s as boring as you think” or “In that picture you have a high fuckability. I want you for my birthday with a big bow. It’s Saturday, how do we arrange it? You have to be my super gift.”

It’s not a bad idea to think that on the other side you have a stranger who, for whatever reason, might not feel like putting a bow on your birthday two days later and being “your super gift”. You can screw up because you’re socially shy, yes, but let’s not rule out that you just don’t know how to do these things and take out your frustration on people you don’t know. Take a look at this example.

“I’m a nice person but no one understands me. I love sex and can’t stop thinking about it, I’m a Scorpio, but I never get laid because I can’t stand the stupidity of most girls” may not be the breakthrough attempt you think it is, buddy. Go back to square one and think about what you’ve done. If you’re going to screw it up, you might as well just say “You’re leaving me like an orphan’s life: hard as nails” and try your luck.

Fatal answer

When you’re not in the mood to flirt, you’re not in the mood to flirt. And the answers can decide whether you succeed or end up ordering a pizza and watching ‘One piece’ until the wee hours of the morning thinking what you did wrong. For example, when asked “Tell me what’s the best thing you’ve ever cooked”, some people answer “Look on my Instagram, I have some dishes there” instead of, well, starting a conversation. But I wish that was the worst possible answer.

Everything can be worse: think that they can reply to a “Hi” saying “Ahh, you’re the person I swiped by mistake! I swiped too fast the other day and didn’t notice your profile at all“, something that, if you’ve had Tinder, you’ll know happens sometimes. And it hurts. In the end, the key is to answer well: if someone says “My exams are going like hell”, it’s enough to be quick to say “well, if it’s like yours, an A”. Flirting is possible (if you are funny). But some people get confused even after a simple “Hello”.

Want a good way to start and not look like a psychopath? Point: “Titanic. There’s no better way to break the ice”. When you’re having a drink with the other person, you’ll thank us for it.

Profiles that do not

And, of course, be very careful in your profile. It’s true that falling into the typical “Friend of my friends”, putting your height or similar things is boring, but it will always be better than some that we have seen on the Internet, like “Like me if you liked me or go to hell. WARNING! I have a big one” or “Would you still love me if I told you that I killed someone? (It was self-defense, obviously)”.

In view of what we’ve seen, it’s better to stay with the mountaineer, the one who goes to the gym, the one who asks for the sign of the zodiac and the one who believes he can make the world a better place between vacation photos, partying and with the cat. And in the end it would have to be the summary of all this: Do you want to flirt? Have a cat. Maybe they don’t want to meet you, but they sure want to meet the kitty.

Cyber scammers targeting those looking for love

These days it is becoming rarer and rarer to meet couples who didn’t first meet through an online dating service. Traditional couples are still out there but ever since Tinder burst onto the scene a few years ago, the lingering taboo of meeting your lover online has evaporated and more and more of us are finding love through online dating sites or apps. Unfortunately, however, cybercriminals also know this and so are turning their attention this way too. It is more important than ever to take care when using online dating services like Tinder.

Tinder Download Now

A particularly shocking scam has been reported by Bleeding Computer. The scam involves criminals setting up fake accounts using images of attractive women on sites and apps like Tinder and them making connections with potential victims who they plan to take advantage of. Once the connections have been made, the scam takes a dark turn.

The scammers then proceed to chat with the potential victims and at some point, will tell them that they have been victims of abuse in the past. They then send photos over of the women whose photos have been posted to the account showing signs of abuse such as bruises and cuts.

This is where the scam kicks in as the scammers then ask the potential victim to sign up for a third-party service that will prove that they are not abusive individuals. The idea here is that if they want to meet up with the women they have been chatting to, who have shown them visual proof that they have been victims of abuse in the past, they must assure them that they are not going to abuse them by paying a third-party service to prove they are safe. This is a particularly despicable and powerful scam.

These fake verification services have reviews and testimonials and look legitimate. They offer different subscription levels that go all the way up to $100.

It is now more important than ever to always take a second to think before putting your credit card details into any site. Emotions are always high when using dating websites and services, which is why they are being targeted more and more. If you take the time, however, to assess the quality of the sites that users on these platforms are sending you to, you will have a much better chance of spotting any potential scams. If in doubt, check out our phishing scam detection infographic.
