Nintendo has announced which will be the next titles to join the Nintendo Switch Online catalog. And this time three Game Boy classics are up next. Because although we already have a good handful of Game Boy games, thanks to its vast catalog, there are still many major titles that haven’t been added yet. Like the ones announced today.
Three classics from Nintendo’s handheld
First up is Avenging Spirit. Released in Japan as Phantasm and adapted from the arcade game of the same name, it’s a Jaleco platformer in which we play as a man who has just died and who, in spirit form, must save his kidnapped girlfriend. How? By possessing the enemies we come across through each stage, acquiring their powers. Very original, fast-paced, and fun, it’s a true gem on the system.
Mole Mania, the second of the games, is a more unusual one. Released between 1996 and 1997 and developed by Nintendo EAD and Pax Softonica, it was produced by Shigeru Miyamoto and is a charming puzzle game in which you play as Muddy the mole. With a mix of box-pushing and digging holes, because you’re a mole, it’s a brilliant game that deserves more attention.
Finally, Pinball: Revenge of the ‘Gator is a notable pinball game released in 1989 by HAL Laboratory that would go on to inspire two later games: Kirby’s Pinball Land and Pokémon Pinball. And these three games will arrive on Nintendo Switch Online starting Tuesday, October 27.
