Forget about the disaster of the nineties: Street Fighter will return to the cinema with a new movie, although this time they will make sure it is much more faithful to the video game series. Although it does not have a director yet, the next movie based on the franchise is being prioritized by Sony and Legendary, taking advantage of the success that video game adaptations are having.
Now, the studios have confirmed the release date of the Street Fighter movie: March 20, 2026. That means the script has already been approved, and now they just need to find a director capable of handling its production.

Street Fighter already has a release date, but still has no director
Initially, Michael Philippou and Danny Philippou, directors of the A24 horror hit Speak to Me, were supposed to be in charge of adapting this video game. However, they eventually abandoned the project to focus on other endeavors. Nevertheless, the movie seems very promising, so we’ll just have to wait and see how it all turns out.
