Epic Games Store finally plans its big PC rebuild: reviews, gifting, profiles

Eight years after launching the Epic Games Store, Epic is getting ready to rebuild the PC storefront and launcher from the ground up. Written user reviews are coming. So are player profiles, community features, better library management, universal controller support, gifting, preloading, and improved download tools. Epic says the store reached 295 million PC customers by the end of 2024, and monthly active users hit a high of 74 million in December. Total spending was up 15% year over year to $1.09 billion, Epic says, with Fortnite and other Epic-owned games doing most of the lifting.

Steam Download

The softer spot is still third-party sales. Spending on games not published by Epic fell 18% year over year to $255 million, according to the company. That makes it two straight years of decline, and it leaves Epic with about 3% of the third-party PC market, based on Epic’s own estimates, while Steam sits around 74% to 75%. This happened even after Epic gave away 89 free games that were claimed an eye-popping 595 million times in 2024. Epic Games CEO Tim Sweeney still sees those giveaways as the cheapest effective way to get people through the door, but a lot of the features now being added are things Steam has had for years. That comes after years of complaints that Epic leaned too hard on timed exclusives and free games, while leaving reviews, forums, social features, and game discovery underdeveloped.

Anyone who uses the Epic Games Store regularly should probably watch this rebuild closely, especially with Epic’s 88/12 revenue split and the Epic First Run program, which offers developers 100% of revenue for the first six months. Even then, the real problem hasn’t changed: Epic still has to figure out how to turn all those free claims into paid sales for third-party games. You can download the Epic Games Store on PC through the Epic Games launcher.

Overwatch 2 adds Neon Junction: killer bees and a deadly train

Blizzard rolled out the Neon Junction update for Overwatch 2 on June 16, 2026, as part of Season 3: Into the Tiger’s Den. The new map comes with two environmental hazards: destructible beehives that burst open when you shoot them, and a moving train that kills on contact.

The bees only chip away at your health, so they usually won’t get the kill by themselves. But if you limp out of a team fight, barely survive an ultimate, and retreat with a sliver of health, they can absolutely finish you off. That alone is already turning bee deaths into viral clips.

Neon Junction is also Shion’s home ground. Blizzard describes Shion as Overwatch 2’s new high-mobility 52nd hero and the leader of the Hashimoto clan. The map is a neon-soaked Japanese city with obvious nods to Akihabara and Shinjuku, and it’s packed with lore touches and little Easter eggs. Players are already arguing over whether the hazards feel fair in competitive play or tilt things toward attackers. Blizzard hasn’t released any official numbers yet on how often people are getting taken out by the bees or the train.

If you play Overwatch 2 a lot, this update is probably worth grabbing for the chaos by itself. Just keep your distance from those hives when you’re one hit from dying.

You can jump into Neon Junction now in Overwatch 2 alongside Shion, a new Battle Pass, Ultra-tier cosmetics, and the three-week Anima Strike event, Blizzard says.

Helldivers 2 patch 6.3.0 is out now: Galactic Campaigns, sturdier Exo-Suits

Patch 6.3.0 is live in Helldivers 2 today. Arrowhead Game Studios has packed it with Galactic Campaigns, tougher Exo-Suits and vehicles, a new fall forest biome, and a wider batch of balance changes.

For anyone following the Galactic War, the headline change is the overhaul to the Major Order system. Arrowhead says Campaigns now run for one to three weeks, and there’s a new Control Center terminal where players can check progress, rewards, and past campaigns right in the game. That should make the metagame a lot easier to keep up with, without having to lean on community guides.

Arrowhead also buffed Exo-Suit durability across the board. Total health goes from 1,600 to 1,800, arm health from 600 to 800, and leg health from 400 to 550. Cooldown has been cut too, from 10 minutes to 8. Beyond that, the studio has made changes to the Bastion tank, the FRV, orbital stratagem damage, and enemy armor.

If you play often, this one’s worth grabbing. It tackles some of the loudest complaints about pacing, progression, and balance after Helldivers 2 dropped into Mostly Negative territory on Steam, and the first reaction from players has been pretty encouraging.

You can download patch 6.3.0 now for Helldivers 2 on Steam and PS5. The game is still averaging more than 42,000 players on Steam over the last 30 days, and Arrowhead says progression updates are still coming, including a Personal Campaign Progression system that will replace Personal Orders in 2026.
