Romain Gavras, the French director behind Athena and Les Misérables, as well as the winner of the Grammy for Best Music Video, will make his first foray into English with the film Sacrifice, which is described as a satirical thriller that will depict in great detail what lies behind the world of entertainment.
The movie will feature an incredible cast. Its protagonists will be Anya Taylor-Joy, Chris Evans, Salma Hayek, and Brendan Fraser, making it even more promising. As the director himself explains, the movie follows Mike Ttyler, a movie star who, after experiencing a decline in popularity, is eager to regain the spotlight. Coincidentally, a great opportunity presents itself when the charity gala attended by the actor is assaulted by a violent group of radicals in a desperate quest to fulfill a prophecy.

Sacrifice: a satire against the exuberance of Hollywood
Romain Gavras has written the script for the film alongside Will Arbery, and although it may be an exciting thriller, it is actually defined as a mockery of tuxedo galas in this type of places. This is explained by the filmmaker in Deadline:
“It comes from a very simple idea. Every time I go to those types of events where you have all those people around, my mischievous side, and I think also the audience’s when they are watching those encounters, wants something to go really wrong. When you see all that ostentatious people and all the glitter around them, you want that moment to go wrong, don’t you?”“.
