SkyShowtime has been active for over a year, and although the platform is still far from rivaling the main streaming options such as Netflix, Amazon Prime Video or Disney Plus, there is no doubt that it offers a very interesting service for all types of audiences. From original series like The Offer to classics like Twin Peaks, it is a perfect choice for series fans.
Now, it has just premiered on its platform A Gentleman in Moscow, a period miniseries starring Ewan McGregor that is based on the homonymous novel by American author Amor Towles, published in 2016. Since then, it has become a recognized worldwide bestseller, and the series aims to follow the same path.

Ewan McGregor and Mary Elizabeth Winstead, face to face
Director Sam Miller and Sarah O’ Gorman are the ones behind this adaptation in the form of an eight-episode miniseries. The plot follows the life of Count Aleksander Ilich Rostov, sentenced to death by the Bolsheviks in 1922. However, due to a poem he wrote a decade earlier, he is granted house arrest at the luxurious Hotel Metropol, his former home that represents the Russian opulence that the new government seeks to eliminate.
A Gentleman in Moscow offers an elegant and meticulous portrait of how human beings face adversity, along with great production design and a cast that knows how to live up to the story. Beyond McGregor himself, Mary Elizabeth Winstead stands out in the fiction, the protagonist’s real-life wife who became known for Scott Pilgrim vs. the World, where she played Ramona Flowers.
Undoubtedly, A Gentleman in Moscow is a great series to binge-watch. It features drama, comedy, some action, and surprising plot twists to keep you on the edge of your seat throughout its viewing.
