Deadlock just got the City Never Sleeps patch, and it’s one of the biggest shake-ups the game has seen so far in its invite-only closed beta on PC through Steam. The update reworks the main map and gives it a stronger New York-inspired identity, adds new Haunts, rolls out six new heroes in stages through community voting, brings in The Broker and his risky Corrupted Items, and folds in thousands of new voice lines.
City Never Sleeps gives Deadlock’s main map a much stronger New York feel. Broadway now leans into a neon-soaked 1950s Times Square look, Greenwich turns into a supernatural version of Central Park, York gets clearer industrial and financial themes, and the mid-map districts finally feel like distinct places instead of basic lane extensions.
The update also adds new Haunts, including creepy dolls, festival spirits, haunted pots, decrepit souls, and gutter ghouls. It also brings in six new heroes released in stages through community voting, The Broker and his risky Corrupted Items, plus a revamped shop, a better ping system, and thousands of new voice lines.
The patch helped push Deadlock past 262,000 concurrent players in October, though some players have reported performance issues, frame-rate drops, and a new learning curve. Support is still spotty outside North America.
If you play Deadlock regularly, this update is easy to recommend for the stronger world-building, inventive heroes, and cleaner overall feel, even with those rough edges.
You can play Deadlock now in the game’s invite-only closed beta on PC through Steam.
